Am I allergic to hot soybean paste?!
When I eat it with food, my whole lips burn. I eat red chile pepper & wasabi, they are spicy but won't make my lips burn.
I don't have soy allergy. Is it because the soybeads are pickled? what are used to pickle food?
Answers: This jar of hot soybean paste listed ingredients: pickled soybead, chili, sugar, salt.

Some peppers are hotter than others.
Wasabi is a different kind of hot; not quite the same as a hot pepper.
If something is pickled it generally contains vinegar.
It probably the pepper (chili).
If you were allergic to hot soy bean paste, you would have more problems than just your lips burning (ie: facial swelling, trouble breathing, etc). Salt is a major component in pickling, so it could be it. Either that, or it's the way you eat the paste that makes your lips burn.
Lips burning is definitely the chiles. Different chiles have different effects.
