If a vegan has mice, roaches or other pests in their house can they get a trap or call the exterminator?!
Answers: Or is that against their philosophy of killing animals.
Whatever they decide, they can't harm the animals. I mean come on, if they can't eat honey because it's stealing from the bees how can they kill household pests without being a hypocrite?
"it depends on the person."----not for vegans.
i dont know but i know that wal mart carrys trap that just enclose the mouse now and you can take it later and release it someone else... i figure this would be what someone who is for animals would use...
I think their philosophy on killing is no killing for food. so I think that they can, in this case, kill'em. Unless, of course the vermin are just those delicacies that would turn the vegans into raging carnivores....
it depends on the person.
most of them will try to get them out of the house without killing them.
some pests carry disease and are actually a danger to humans, some will kill those and some dont.
Most vegans only apply their high standards when it's convenient. I'm sure when they find a bug in the house they squash it.
I've seen a lot of answers for a humane trap. What about body crabs. I have yet to se a trap for them.
there r live animal traps u can buy...
I use electronic pest repellers. They work so well and don't kill anything. I've convinced a few friends to use them just because they were tired of cleaning up dead roaches and smelling dead rats all the time. Even if you aren't vegan you have to admit it's a pretty sweet deal.
No they must use humane traps and then release them.
We had a mice problem once in student digs, unfortunately after catching 4 and then release them in the field next door, the landlord had to put poison down after a student complained, which then killed another 5.
There are humane traps for mice.
Roaches can be avoided by keeping things clean and free of edible debris.
Fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and other parasites are the only things that I'll kill on purpose.
I'm a vegan, i don't kill bugs. luckily i live in apts are only 2 years old and there are no roaches or rats. i actually get really upset when someone kills a bug or a rat.
There are many humane traps on the market that don't harm 'pests'. There are also electronic repellers that make them leave of their own free will. I keep my house clean and don't leave food laying around they'd be attracted to but personally, I wouldn't mind the odd mouse or roache in my house. If it became a problem though, I'd find a humane way of making them leave... I'd never call someone to have them exterminated.
Personally I think mice are cute. I've had them (store bought) for pets. BUt wild mice do carry diseases and poop all over and that's not healthy. I think we should be as good to the animals as we possibly can, but animal's lives aren't more important than human life and health.
Catch and release might be a desireable option.
But personally.. I find that having two cats in the house, the mice find somewhere else to live. I never had a problem.. My cats don't catch mice either.. there's none around.. but if they did.. I know cats are kinda cruel with mice, but at least that's "Nature's extermination method." So I wouldn't feel too bad about it.
IF extermination was necessary, I would do it in the quickest most humane way. I throw away glue traps wherever I see them, because I get sick at the thought of them (I've seen a mouse stuck to one, screaming in pain as it VERY slowly died..) It's bad enough to have to kill the mice, but there is something wrong with whoever developed a method like that to be as cruel and torturous as possible!
Snap traps don't always work as well as they should, but MOST of the time they're quick and the mouse never knows what happened.
They should develop a poison that is quick and painless. Just stops the heart or something without any pain. Then that's what I'd go for (if it were necessary)
Personally I have no sympathy for bugs and roaches.. However, I don't keep my place a dump, so I've never had that problem either. But even then, I wouldn't use sticky traps. I believe bugs have nerves and can feel pain to some degree.. and, while I have no problem killing them, I wouldn't torture them.
That's my philosophy.
