Is being a vegan against the Bible?!
They were serving BBQ and I told the preacher that I was a vegan. He was appalled and said it was not natural to not eat meat. He said the Bible says to eat meat.
After other people found out they seemed not to want to talk to me anymore and people always talk about the football games with me.
Is being a vegan against the Bible? What do you think?
Answers: Saturday, after my big game that I had 5 sacks, 14 tackles , and 4 rushes for 21 yards and 2 TDs, I went to a church luncheon.

since u go off the bible here is some stuff from there
genisis-1:29
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
Mark 7:19). As with anything, each and every Christian should pray for guidance as to what God would have them eat. Whatever a person decides to eat is acceptable to God as long as we thank Him for providing (1 Thessalonians 5:18). 1 Corinthians 10:31 declares, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
Try a different religion, I don't see why it should be. Bottom line make your own choice on it.
God does give us permission to eat meat.
When the flood came Noah was instructed to take certain animals for meat. before this they didn't eat it. So we know it is Ok to eat meat.
But there is nowhere in the bible that says you must eat it. If you choose to be a vegan then that is fine.
Why don't you ask the preacher to back up his info in the bible? If he can't then........................
6th Commandment : Thou shall not kill
Heart attacks... God's revenge for eating his little animals
The Bible only instructs us on what NOT to eat. Your pastor is showing a very un-Christian intolerance. Perhaps you should remind him that John the Baptist ate only locusts and honey.
Actually, it's not.
The Old Testament prevented people from eating certain animals (those with cloven hoofs, pigs). But your good pastor was probably BBQing pork right there.
In the New Testament, John the Baptist did not eat meat. Because of his purity, he was selected to baptize Jesus.
Actually, you can prove/disprove almost anything with the Bible.
The bible does not specifically SUPPORT vegan ways, due to the times in which it's source-texts were written, and where they were written, it presumes that everyone wanted MEAT in their diet. The flip-side of that is that it doesn't specifically speak AGAINST it either. Some might say that not specifically speaking FOR something is to disallow it, but that is a lot of hypocritical bunk.
Seriously, that is obviously this congregation's interpretation of the Bible. They are passing judgement on you. What wouldn't be natural is if you ate meat based upon someone's elses' opinion.

I don't think the Bible says you must eat meat; neither does Tradition on which the authority of the bible depends So the preacher is wrong in this instance. I agree with him. that it is natural to eat meat. But that is not a matter of religion.
No. Now with that being said.
I have seen your stupid questions in the football section. Do not believe him folks, he is known as the troll in the American football section. I guess he is getting bored over there.
Who cares what the Bible says?
Would you live your life based on Greek Mythology?
The Bible is 100% unauthentic, just like you.
If someone doesn't want to talk to someone because of what they DON"T eat, they are pathetic excuses for "christians"
or even human beings in general.
Any god that doesn't doesn't want a vegan world is even more fake than the ones that do.
No
How can not killing be against the bible? Your preacher must have been high which by the way is also not against the bible!
It isn't it is what you feel you should eat and a long time ago when the bible was written you couldn't have been a vegan at all so he is just following that it is your choice on what you like to eat and he might be a little bit overly religious.
7th Day Adventists are strict vegetarians and Christians. You might look up their information online and relate to your minister that prior to the plague of locusts in the Old Testament...we were vegetarians. God said to eat meat to survive during the plague....I think the plague is over!!!
Sounds just about as reasonable as i expect Christianity to be.
but seriously thats pretty silly, just because the bible says your allowed to eat meat, doesnt mean you have to.
i like zen buddhism : )
It's funny how ignorance can include even those who are "spiritually enlightened".
No, it's not against the Bible. I would find another religion or at least find another church.
well the bible also says to treats others like u would want to be treated...would the preacher like to take his turn on the bbq??? there are lots of contradictions in the bible, it is all up for interpretation
I don't believe in looking to religion for moral behavior, seeing as how most of the suffering of the world has been brought about because of religion.
But if you do, you shouldn't look to a religion that condemns you for being an individual. I'd find another church.
Lastly, NOWHERE in the Bible does it say humans are required to eat meat.
I'm sorry to say he was "talking through his hat". Makes me wonder where he got his Divinity Degree. I really hate it when people of authority spout nonsense, lead other astray with their unsubstantiated teachings.
God gives(gave) us permission to eat meat, not orders us to eat meat. Our bodies are the same ones that where made to THRIVE on a plant-based diet. We can live eating meat, but we are much healthier eating the diet GOD 1st .set up for us.
Here is a great Christian Vegan site for you.

No, but it's against nature. Look in a mirror. Hopefully, your eye sockets point forward, rather than to the sides. You might also notice that your collection of teeth includes canines and incisors. This is a pretty big clue that you are a carnivore.
