Studies have shown that most of us eat too much protein-the RDA is only 0.8g per kg (2.2 k per pound) unless you exercise HEAVILY, like major weight lifting, are pregnant or have been seriously ill.
That said-there is protein in so many different foods that it's too long a list for here. Beans, soy, legumes, seeds and nuts are good sources, as well as whole grains. Many vegetables have more protein than you would think. It would behoove you, if changing to a vegan diet, to do some research and figure out what foods you like can be combined to provide a diet complete in all nutrients, rather than concentrating on one overemphasized component of a healthy diet.
Fresh fruits & vegetables, beans, rice. You can eat fake "meats", etc.
Presumably you are also avoiding eggs?
You will need to make sure you eat lots of beans, peas, lentils, nuts and whole grains, preferably in combination, to get the proteins you need. Avoid processed products as much as you can, but eat things like brown rice and lentils together, or beans and wholegrain tortillas to properly combine the proteins.
Don't forget about alternative grains besides wheat, some of which contain more protein. Buckwheat for example is not really a wheat but a type of seed that is made into flour and provides high protein.
Hmm, so you're actually becoming a vegan if you don't eat dairy either.
Anyways, tofu, soy and nuts are all high in protein. Fresh fruit and vegetables will add to the other vitamins you need. Also eat different kinds of beans and pulses.
beans, oatmeal, nuts, broccoli, soy, wheat gluten also makes good "mock meat".if you like the tast of cheese try nutritional yeast for a good "cheese"sauce.gimme lean sausage is amazing it tastes like real sausage.i suggest buying a good vegetarian cookbook,i wouldnt buy any betty crocker ones or any other ones like that, buy one thats written by someone whos actually vegetarian theyre way better.
everybody needs some kind of animal protein (amino acids)to remain healthy.
dairy products are a good way to get those proteins without hurting animals.
eggs are a good source of proteins
soy and tofu are not enough
Beans, beautiful beans!
Soak them for at least 24 hours before cooking to make them easier to digest.
Why do you need to eat high protein? Most people eat too much anyway. Eat nuts, beans, peas, soy products etc. Most all foods have protein in them.
