All About Organix?!

Question: What makes food(s) "organic?"

If it is better for you, why is it unfortunately more expensive?

Is it different or similar to vegan/vegetarian foods?

If food is certified organic then it has been grown without chemical pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and hasn't been genetically modified. It has to fit a certain criteria according to national standards. It is more expensive because farmers have to use sometimes more expensive means of keeping the bugs off their crops or they lose more crops to bugs. Also, they don't pump their veggies full of steroids so their crop yield is lower.

Vegetarian foods simply don't contain meat, and vegan foods don't contain any animal products (ie, milk and honey are not vegan foods). You can buy organic lamb, for instance; the animals would have to have been fed pesticide-free food and not be pumped full of hormones, and other criteria would need to be followed.

I'm holding out for the orgasmix food line to come out ;-)
