Are vegetarians thinner?!
Answers: than meat eaters, and are they more healthy in general? if so how is this possible???
weight depends more on what you DO eat than what you DON'T.
Meat is very fattening, so cutting it out can lead to a bit of healthy weight loss..
However, if you replace the meat in yoru diet with junk food, then you won't neccessarily be thinner.. you might even gain.
A vegetarian diet is much healthier than a meat-eating diet, if done right.
How is it possible? Latest research is showing that humans need far less protien in their diet than yoru typical westerner eats. Too much protien causes health prooblems. As I said, meat is fattening, high in cholesterol, and meat today is pumped so full of chemicals and hormones that it practically isn't safe.
Whereas Fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and whole grains are extremely good for you. ..
But there's defnitely a "right way" and a "wrong way" to be vegetarian, as far as health and weight are concerned.
Vegetables and fruits are low cal. I have heard yes, but vegetarians always have the pizza and ice cream options, so I wouldnt think that rejecting all meat products means weight reduction. Meat is a huge source of protein too, so if you become vegetarian you must find calcium in eggs, dairy etc. and not become vitamin deficient.
Not necessarily. I've known vegetarians of all walks; some thin, some not. One woman I knew ate a lot of sweets and breads.
no, i don;t think they are. it depends on the person . you can be a vegetarian and still be fat.
Yeah that's usually the case because they are more health conscious in general. Another reason could be a lack of protein, which is necessary for building muscle.
No. I knew some that were obese, but generally not healthier but thinner. Not healthier because, most vegetarians don't have the means to get their daily dietary requirements.
As a whole, yes. Individually, not necessarily.
Many people who choose a vegetarian diet do so as a way of improving their health. The possible benefits include improved health for nutritional reasons and improved food safety. In the therapy of some health disorders and/or food intolerances vegetarian diets are a necessary element
and as far as protein they eat pulses, which has 20 to 25% protein by weight, which is double the protein content of wheat and three times that of rice. For this reason, pulses are sometimes called "poor man’s meat". While pulses are generally high in protein, and the digestibility of that protein is also high, they often are relatively poor in the essential amino acid methionine.
you can't judge by individual.
Not necessarily. I'm not the thinnest person in the world. I'm healthier than most people I know. Most vegan food is lower in fat and calories but not always. Nuts and seeds are high in fat, but healthy.
Maybe and maybe and maybe. Your being to general. It comes down to specific diet and meaters and vegers alike have widely varying diets within their own categories.
Like everything, someone's thinness depends on their diet and other factors. If someone is eating cookies and ice cream daily, if they're vegetarian or not, they're going to probably be fatter and less healthy than someone who is eating well.
Genetics also holds a large part of weight and health. Some people have conditions like high blood pressure of diabetes because of a family history. Some people can eat bad food all day and have a higher metabolism than someone who eats well and is thus thinner. Some who eat well might have a slower metabolism, a disease, or a family history that keeps them bulkier than someone who doesn't eat well.
Generally, if you are eating a good vegetarian diet, keeping yourself fit and of good health, you will be more healthy because a vegetarian diet is usually low in fat and comprised of more foods that have more iron and other vitamins.
Yes yes yes we are thinniner, smarter, and have better sex come join us over the other side!
It depends, in general i would say yes, but not all the time.
most meat has a lot of saturated fat, even lean meats have a certain amount of it.
humans have no dietary requirement for saturated fat and over consuming it contributes to heart disease and obesity.
healthy fats like in olive oil, avocado and flax seeds are good foods for the brain and the skin, they do not contribute to heart disease or obesity.
there is still other sources of saturated fat, most foods have a tiny amount in them, the combined amount from these foods is more than enough for us to handle...
anything deep fried is practically swimming in saturated fat...
so you can deep fry vegetables and while they will be vegetarian, they are still very unhealthy.
the body wants food, it wants nutrients, it wants them in an easily digestible form, and it doesnt want a bunch of other rubbish in there its got to waste resources getting rid of.
a lot of vegetarians and vegans eat a lot of fresh produce, which is giving the body exactly what it wants, the healthy state of the body is lean, which is what results when the body gets a chance to do what it does best : )
exercise is vital too, it helps the body to grow by breaking down muscles and it helps the body to get rid of toxins that accumulate during daily life.
Good Luck : )
Just significantly intellectually "thinner" my dear . . .
To support my veggie business we see about 5,000 vegetarians a year. They are all shapes and sizes.
There is nothing in meat that you need for a healthy diet so you shouldn't be suprised that its perfectly heathy to live on a vegetarian diet with no issues or suupplements.
It depends on the individual people, but in general, yes vegetarians are thinner because meat has a lot of calories/fat and fruits and vegetables are a lot healthier.
But like I said, it depends on the individual, cause if you get no excersize or something then you are still going to be unhealthy no matter what you eat.
Not always it depends on portions but a lot of people who eat meat and their vegetables as well have more fats in their systems while a vegetarian eats more fruits, nuts, and vegetables, but a person who eats meat will eat a combination of that and meat so they have more fat. Both can be healthy and a lot of people who eat meat though can be healthy don't always have the choice of being vegetarian because some vegetarian things cost too much and they cannot afford it.
from what i have been told by a doctor they are thinner but they lack in vitamins that only meat can give so they have to be very careful about there health.
