Why aren't animal crackers called animal cookies?!

Question: I want to know people's opinion on this one.
Also if there is actually any logical reason to it I would love to know. Thanks.

I think of animal CRACKERS as those bland, flavorless kind they used togive us in preschool as a snack because they're really cheap.

I think of animal COOKIES as being sweeter and more cookie-like, like Barbaras DELICIOUS wheat-free oatmeal animal SNACKIMALS.

Cookie is a naughty word.

Who would want to eat an animal's cookie?

Just because I'm vegan doesn't mean that I'm into that.

That would screw up the song.
"animal cookies in my soup" Just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Because they are light colored and us light colored folks are called crackers.

Krister--I know you got some jungle love out by you!! Way to gross out Jena...LOL

Possibly because they weren't always made as sweet as they are now. Like graham crackers.

Because they're shaped like animals, duh.

they are called cookie and cracker
