Why don't vegos come up with their own names for food?!
Now, cue outraged replies!
Answers: You are always calling your food, "something STEAKS", or "nut BURGERS", or "tofu TURKEY". Sounds to me like you miss the good old days of being able to eat real food, when you weren't all on a self induced guilt trip.
Now, cue outraged replies!
hmmmm the companies that make the products get to name them we don't.
Because they're called mock meats for a reason.
We don't "miss" anything, and sometimes the reason is because we HAVE said mock meats. Seems to me if we can eat cruelty-free versions of the real thing then everyone wins. Not to mention when there are substitutes for everything it shows how easy vegetarianism is.
Why do you care?
Given the choice of Tofurkey or a good Turducken , the latter will win ever time. :) Good question.
It's simply about marketing. Companies market things under these names so the customers know what the products are.
Did you think the customers named the products? I wouldn't be surprised if YOU did.
Werd.
I know I sure as hell don't call my antelope roast "faux seitan". Pwa ha ha. Nice one.
They could call their stuff what it tastes like, nylon polymer just probably wouldn't sell much as a foodstuff tho.
Actually, I think it's all just for convenience's sake. Why wouldn't we name foods for what is familiar to us?
You have to try a lot harder to be outragous, sir.
Many people who eat them are not vegetarian. They eat them to get rid of cholesterol and fats. It makes it easier to know what they are.
It's not the "vegos" who come up with names for most of these products, but the companies that market them. And I really don't have a problem with them or how they're named. If having faux "chickin" or "beef" helps people reduce their consumption of actual animals, well, that's a good thing.
And I do eat real food, dearie. Fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, beans, tofu, tempeh, seitan, falafel, mushrooms, etc.--real foods.
And it's not like I gave up chocolate. Sheesh.
it doesnt really matter wut it's called..
as long as we dont kill..
we just dont think we are kind..we are kind..not killing..
wut's wrong with fake meat?
why should we feel guilty?
we didnt kill anything..just named it the same food.
and how did u meat eaters know that (lets say) steak was once a vegie food..then a meat eater took the name?
Just an example!
but u dont know where the orgin of other food came from..
it's just the name..
wut's the guilt ur talking about???
and vegans dont eat plastic..
our mock meat is food too!
MEAT IS WUT ISNT FOOD..
------IT'S A DEAD BODY ON A PLATE!--------
=O
OO IF UR A HATER OF VEGANS THAN GET THE HELL OUTA HERE!
IF -NOT- STAY..WE LOVE YOU!
=D
