Vegetarians and pet food?!
Answers: Do vegetarians feed their dogs and cats meat? why or why not?
No.
Because it's wrong, and would be quite hypocritical.
OMG vegetarian animals tooo
My vegan daughter feeds her cat and dog vegan food. It cleared the dog's food allergies. The cat is 16 years old and goind strong. Others may make other choices.
My dog is vegetarian (the oldest dog alive at the moment is a vegetarian!). It is completly healthy for a dog to have a vegetarian diet, though cats are carnivores (while dogs are omnivores) and can't be healthy with a strictly veggie diet.
While there are veg*ns who (very successfully) convert their companion animals to veg*nism, I feed my dog a commercial dog food made with organically raised chicken. I might feel differently about bringing meat in any form into the house if I was running a completely vegan household, but I live with my omnivore boyfriend. As long as he's bringing meat into the house for himself, which he does about once a week, it seems like a bit of a stretch to deny my dog meat. In "the wild" (a crazy concept for a dachshund... can you imagine herds of wild weiner dogs?) he'd seek out meat, so I base his diet on it. He loves veggies and fruit, too, though, especially pumpkin.
I do not. I believe that if the pet would be eating meat if it were in the wild, then why should I change that?
