What veggie dish would be good for nonvegetarians?!

Question: I'm giving a speech in my speech class (duh!) to persuade them to become vegetarians. I want to bring in a vegetarian dish that hopefully most or all of them will like. Any suggestions?

You want to show the class that they can have a full meal without meat, right? Most people know about the dips, veggie trays, etc. from parties- so you might want to bring in a hot dish to show that filling can also be vegetarian. PLEASE avoid green salad!! That is what most meat eaters think veggies eat. ugh.

There are these cool pouched Indian foods (sorry- but they are quick, easy, and cheap) and nearly all vegetarian. It might be something tasty and different. It also might be a little too different. IF you want to try it, heat it up- Pindi is good) and serve it on a little triangle of pita bread. very tasty. mmmmmm.......

you could also do rice and bean burritos- same protein complex as meat- but without the dead animal.

What ever you end up bringing in, you should 1- remember that you don't want to serving and consuming of the dish to take away from your speech. you want it to compliment, not take over. and 2- bring in the recipe so that others can make it at home- if they so choose :)

have fun!!

Veggie Lasagna is almost always a winner. Don't even tell them.

something with big meaty portobello mushrooms

FRUIT SALAD! i'm a major carnivor but i love fruit salads! make sure to have a variety of different fruits like apple slices, strawberries and other stuff

I'm not a vegetarian, but I had this really good Eggplant Parmesan. You can also try veggie burgers.

try quiche, tomato pizza, cheese and onion stuff, pasta without meat

? veggie lasagna

get some orgainic tortila chips and some hummas, I love that stuff and it's somewhat good snack. Or got to your local natural food store and see what they have that YOU actually would like to make then you can really speak from your heart

spinach dip is always good....

or try to get something that they normally wouldn't even try, but is actually really good. like maybe something organic or food from a health food store...

sorry it's not so specific, but that gives you a starting point.

Vegetarian is scarin' em
rastafarian feel my style bubbalin
i'm sick like a vegetarian, sectarian

Mashed potatoes or Broccoli and Cheese casserole

I always think you can't go wrong with Quorn. Neither me nor any members of my family are vegetarians but we all eat Quorn as it's a very good meat substitute.

You could try sausage sandwiches or sausage and mash or even Quorn burgers for cheese burgers. Everyone loves burgers right?

I always use the Quorn mince for all my chilli's and bolognese's as it is less fatty and has a nicer texture than minced meat so maybe you could make a nice big Chilli Con Carne.

corn on cob, celary and ranch, peas, brocali, spagetti, green beans, their all good, my personal favorite is corn!

something with tofu and salad... i dunno....

oh!!! nachos and salsa!!! i dont think theres any meat in there... french fries and patato chips- not to healthy but its vegetarian

vegetarian pizza maybE? im sure the food network has a website and they got some good ideas on there

vegetarian lasagna

soft tacos with black beans, red bell peppers, onions, cilantro, salsa and tofutti sour cream. Season with fajita seasoning. TOO GOOD!

try some nuts, carrots, olives, in a dish, you might try some pickles people don't ever think of those and they are good

most definitely veggie lasagna!!! so easy and ...i serve to many friends and family who arent vegetarians!
Just make it like you would regular lasagna, ....with spinach, (i hate spinache, but like in lasagna!)...onions, mushrooms....peppers....chopped and grilled eggplant....anything at all.........I use the vegetarian sausage too, ....people dont even know the difference!!

or eggplant parm....................

Black beans, re-fried beans

Heat separately in bowls in the microwave.

Smear re fried beans on a flour tortilla, spoon on black beans.

Sprinkle with veggie cheese.

Roll up and put in baking pan seam side down.

Pour over a can of Old El Paso Enchalada sauce.

Sprinkle with cheese.

Heat for 10 minutes on BROIL. Watching so it doesn't burn.

Remove from oven and serve with lettuce, tomato and olives on top. I use real sour cream and cheese. I don't mind the veggie cheese, but the fake sour cream BITES>

This is a GREAT, YUMMY and FAST meal.
Prep time to the table 15 minutes

If you're a vegetarian that eats dairy products and eggs bring in a cheese pizza or make the pizza using soy cheese instead.

Green bean casserole.

Porterhouse steak...most or all of them will like it and the cow was a vegetarian. That would make them, and me for that matter, a vegetarian, once re-moo-ved! That was funny, admit it!!

think of something that nonvegetarians eat like every day. i say go with pasta or something. also, if you want other reasons, go to peta2.com and they have recipies that are tastey and other reasons to go vegetarian, including the gross stuff, like the slaughter and such, if you want to add that to your speech. <3 DeegeMonster

Broccoli Cheese casserole
Carrot Souffle
Veggie Lasagna
vegetable soup
black bean quesidias

vegetarian enchilada casseroles are really good and most meat eaters don't really even notice that meat is missing from the dish...also, vegetarian burgers would be a good thing to show your classmates how good a meatless burger can be.....

I would make or purchase Taboullee, Hummus, Pita... lettuce and tomatos ..... yum

Veggie chili! You use tempeh or TVP instead of meat.

www.vegweb.com has recipes for casseroles and dinner pies. You could make that for your class.

If you can find something that calls for mushrooms, such as creminis or portabellos, so much the better.

Absolutely show that vegetarianism isn't just about tofu and salads, but lots of delicous foods.
