You can't have a healthy diet on just vegetables. If you're thinking of turning vegetarian you need to eat wholegrains (bread, pasta, rice, cereals etc), fruit, beans, pulses, nuts and seeds.

I switched over from a diet which consisted mainly of meat and general junk in one day and I was fine. Now I feel a hundred times better... haven't got ill once and my allergies have completely cleared up after I gave up milk! good luck :o)

It is ok, though it is hard to maintain.

I honestly don't think so. You will be doing a lot of damage to your body, it needs more thatn just vegetables. You don't have to drop everything to be healthy.

No your body would shut down because it would not be used to it. If you want to do that do it over a time period

It's OK. You need to find a source of vegetable protein, as meat is our chief source of protein. This is even more important for vegans, as they do not eat cheese or eggs or drink milk. The main sources of plant protein are nuts and quorn or tofu (from soya beans).

I think it would be safer to gradually lay off the junk and meat instead of just going cold turkey. Take a longer time with the meat too.

Do you mean go vegetarian, or start eating only vegetables? An all-vegetable diet doesn't sound very healthy to me. You'd want to include tofu and legumes and grains etc as well. In that case, you would be fine with making a sudden switch.

It you really do want to do a cleanse or something and just eat veggies for a few days, that you would want to prepare your body for first.

since the diet is such a change to your body your bout to have some side effects. you will need to expect them and give you body time to adjust

try n gt rid of jnk food gradually, so yr craving isn't too bad
make sure u still have a varied diet so that yr body doesn't miss out on important nutrients, try nuts, beans n fish aswell as veg

Assuming that you mean that you want to start a vegetarian/vegan diet (as opposed to just eating vegetables, which, as some of the other answers mentioned, would not be healthy long-term), go for it. I went from full-fledged meat/junk eater to vegan cold-turkey and, five years later, am still just fine. Be aware, though, that as you will likely be drastically increasing your intake of things like beans and high-fiber foods, you are likely to experience more gas/stomach weirdness, at least at first.

But it is not going to endanger your health or make you tired/weak, etc. because all you are essentially doing is changing the form of the foods from which you are getting the nutrients you need. Depending on what kind of "junk" you eat right now, you are likely to actually feel better pretty much immediately (again, as long as you are following a balanced vegetarian/vegan diet and not just eating cheese pizza or salads).

As an added bonus, you may also find that fruits and veggies actually increase in flavor after you aren't eating "meat and junk." For example, I was pleasantly surprised at how sweet carrots actually are. Yum!!

Good luck!

Yea, start lowering your junk intake, to little then little, then cut it out, but not completly. :)

What you you mean by junk, there are a lot of veg*n food out there that is junk as well, deep fried chips, veg*n dounuts etc etc. But sure cut out the junk in your diet and go for a well rounded balance diet that can be either veg*n or with a little non processed meat in it.

Since when do vegetarians eat only vegetables??
