soy is a great source of protein, but it does have esterogen in it, and too much has been proven to cause breast cancer (but too much is as in discusting amounts and being the only thing that you're eating pretty much- most people don't have to worry about it, but soy is still a great subsitute)
Answers: people are allergic to things that are good for you, and people being allergic to it doesn't mean its bad for you

It can actually be toxic to certain animals and people when uncooked......eat meat you know came from a good source if you're concerned.

The majority of humans on this Earth are lactose intolerant and eggs aren't an uncommon allergy.
If meat is so good for you, it wouldn't be advised that people eat so little of it to live a long and healthy life.
I'm not allergic to soya :) I know lots of people who eat it and I don't know anyone who is.
I know someone with a heart condition who was advised against eating red meat by their GP. I know people who stopped eating meat after the Mad Cow's Disease breakout and there have been quite a few other breakouts that have been transferable to humans since then, which have been down to methods of animal farming. I know a few people who are lactose intolerant (can't drink milk). But no-one allergic to soya. :)

There are not "many people" allergic to it. The vast majority of people are not allergic to anything at all. There are a few allergic to either soy, wheat, eggs, dairy, peanuts or shellfish and even fewer allergic to more than one of these. Food allergies have nothing to do with how healthy a food is.
And I'm not sure what kind of damn point goldenchilde11 is trying to make with ackee. I could say the same about fugu. Stop distracting the discussion.
People are allergic to many things like penicillin and it can be good for you if you can handle it. As long as you eat it in moderation and it has been checked for safety ,soy and meat products are both healthy. It would be better to eat soy if you are vegetarian than just one thing and having nothing else in your diet.
There are more people "allergic" to eggs, shellfish, and dairy. Where's your concern there?
I only know one person allergic to soy. Besides, soy protein does not contain the excess fat and cholesterol that many meats do. I'm allergic to almonds, but that doesn't mean they're unhealthy.

There is no conection between allergic reactions and whether or not the food is healthy.
It isn't. It's just what some people use as a fairly easy to slot in substitute. There are loads of other options, many of which are much kinder to the environment, such as nuts and seeds. There's also the phytoestrogen issue.
When something is strongly allergenic, there is often a good reason for not consuming it in any case. Dairy is particularly harmful, and wheat would never have been eaten in such large quantities before the beginning of farming, so we haven't had time to adjust. Nuts can have mould that causes liver damage.
It makes sense to plan your diet completely from scratch using nutritional principles if you go veggie. Eating lots of soya as a replacement for dairy or other sources of protein ignores the ecological damage it does.
Never met anyone allergic to 'soy'.
I have met loads of people claiming to be allergic to wheat though, but upon asking them a bunch of questions I quickly find out that they don't know what they are talking about and they are just eating a very bad diet in general. Same goes for all those people allergic to peanuts. Peanuts?? Come on, how can you be allergic to peanuts? or soybeans? "I'm allergic to nuts, especially peanuts" people say, but peanuts are not nuts but legumes. People are just as ignorant about soy. They are likely 'allergic' to some chemical herbicide or something rather than the actual bean, legume, nut, etc.
Whether or not something is a potential allergen has nothing to do with whether or not it's healthy for those not allergic to it. An allergy is simply a misplaced response by someone's immune system. Many people are allergic to penicillin, but that doesn't mean it's not an effective antibiotic. Many people are allergic to flouride, but that doesn't mean it doesn't play a role in preventing tooth decay. I don't know what percentage of the population is allergic to soy, but I'm willing to bet it's a small fraction of those who are lactose intolerant (since that runs as high at 70-90% in some populations.)

If you are faced with eating the membranes of akee or eating chicken, your best bet is to go with the chicken if you want to see your next birthday.
*By the way, akee is a vegetable that one must harvest very, very carefully.
