Would a true vegan oppose the smashing of a cockroach under any circumstance?!

Question: Mr. Balls.

A true vegan by definition can never be achieved.

The line has to be drawn somewhere.

Where do you draw this line? You have to look inside your heart to know the answer to that.

the question: Yes, I avoid killing bugs but will if necessary.

No as long as you don't eat it.

yes, but why do they eat vegetables and fruit...and other foods that animals eat. won't that make the animals starve =O

A true vegan would also oppose the regular washing of bedsheets, because it would "destroy the habitat" of millions of microscopic dust mites, and would be a "cruel" and "heartless" way to "slaughter" these "innocent" creatures.

(Tongue in cheek, but I think you get my point!)

LOL I think the whole thing about being "Vegan" or "Vegetarian" has to do with the killing of animals specifically for food, and does not extend to bumping off bugs, or any other critters for defensive reasons such as in the case of something being possibly hazardous to one's health, or exterminating rodents and other creatures who tend to be highly destructive to one's property if left alone.

It would be pretty ridiculous, would it not, for a Vegan to absolutely refuse to set out mouse traps, or poison, when he discovered a rodent problem in the house. What would be the alternative? Just let the pesky critters breed unstopped till they have overrun the home owners entire house?

Would a true meat eater eat it?

If a vegan benefits from doing so, probably not. they only protest what they cannot get anything out of. thats why they turn a blind about the killing of millions of "pest" animals such as rabbits and such to protect their precious cabbage and alfalfa farms.
@ Mamoon (sorry about the spelling) yes, a meat eater will consume a cockroch if the circumtstances call for it. In fact any human being probably would if absolutely necessary (would you rather starve to death?). Ever see "Fear Factor'?

No. A true vegan wouldn't. I would squash a roach in an instant. I'm not a conventional vegan I have standards.

Why would they? Cockroaches are disgusting! I'm vegetarian myself and if I see a roach or centipede, it's going to die.

Actually "true" vegans would . . .i.e. the Jains come to mind.

No such thing as a true vegan. More animals get killed farming for vegans than all the hunters in the world kill. Start adding up the worms, mice, rabbits, and even deer that farming equipment kill while plowing and harvesting and you will see I'm right. Then there are all the billions of insects killed by pesticides so vegans can have their soy burgers. The 4 deer I kill every year are nothing compares to the carnage of farming.
Vegans have fooled themselves into thinking nothing dies to make their food.
