What are some of your favorite vegetarian meals?!
Answers: Recipes, ingredients and prep time?
For a tasty lunch, I get this wrap from a local restaurant that has..
avocado
lettuce
tomato
cucumbers
banana peppers
roasted red peppers
sprouts
havarti cheese
herb mayo
on a spinach flatbread
it's soo good.. and would be easy to make, it's just having those ingredients handy.
I am not a vegetarian, but I love veggie stir fry.
I love using the steamed veggie bags from Ziplock. I cut up broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, green peppers, red peppers and green beans and put them in the bag. I usually do about five minutes in the microwave, and they come out delicious.
Or I fry mushrooms, onions, red peppers, green peppers and garlic together and put it on top of rice (kind of like a stir fry). Yummy!
I don't cook. :) But I can order the hell out of a falafel sandwich.
Mac n cheese..
There is a great recipe on the food channel website, www.foodnetwork.com Keywords: Healthy appetite with Ellie Krieger/ old favorites.
that uses Pureed winter squash... It's awesome
takes about half an hour +-
I have a great easy meal for you.You buy one of those Mexican taco kits.Instead of adding beef or chicken add protien crumbles.I use Lightlife brand. The texture and taste is so close to beef it's scary. It takes only minutes to make and even meat eaters will enjoy it.My parents are huge meat eaters and when I made this they thought I made beef ones for them! You can also use these crumbles in a tomato sauce to make a mock meat sauce for pasta.
It takes quite a bit of prep to make this, but I LOVE the crispiness of the tofu and the flavor of the sauce: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=8769.0
This one is, by far, my favorite potato salad recipe ever (except I use Vegenaise instead of regular mayo): http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=16380....
When I'm in the mood for some junk food, these chocolate chip cookies satisfy my craving: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6391.0
So yummy warm!!! :P
A couple other faves of mine are this spinach dip that I put in a bread bowl (prep time usually 30 mins. Recipe found in Extraveganza cookbook--sorry, I don't have the book with me!) and steamed kale with 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp flax oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, and 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds, which is the easiest to make out of the bunch.
I'm hungry now...
