What vegetarian/veg*n misconceptions you would like to educate others about?!
And on and on. The list of veg*n myths is too long to put here, but I'd start with those.
Also, I love the fact that someone went through and "thumbs-downed" everyone. Come on, what did we say that could have possibly offended you? We are just commiserating about all of the ridiculous things people think about us. How can the answers be wrong?
Answers: All of them. We aren't all skinny, pasty-faced weaklings. We're not all homosexual. We're not all preachy. Our hair/skin/muscles are fine. Yes vegans breast feed. Yes we feed our pets what they need. Yes we can eat animal crackers. No we do not only eat salad. No we wouldn't run over three people to save one chicken. No we are not all PETA members. Yes we shower. No we are not all gassy.

We're not crazy. :P
OH, and that we don't all live on tofu and vegetables! I've never had tofu.
That the food doesn't taste bad!!!
That eating soy will not make dudes grow boobs.
btw: I don't eat soy (don't like the taste), I just think this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard come out of someone's mouth.
Not veg*n, but I'll chime in anyway: That veg*n foods lack protein, calcium, and iron.
That we are all hippies and stuff like that. So not true. Not that there is anything wrong with being a hippie. And also that we do not get enough protein. I hate when people say that. And that we have hardly anything to eat - just vegetables and fruits. Again, not true.
That we are all granola munching, sandal wearing, hygiene deficient hippies.
I get plenty of protein and other nutrients, I do not eat any animals and yes that includes fish, I don't care what You feel about my choices, I have no need to defend my choices to you, It is not an insult to you when I answer your question as to why I don't eat animals, If you don't want to hear my answer then don't ask the question, yes I am healthy, no I am not sickly, I have been pale all of my life even when I ate meat that is my skin color,
Oh and for the life of me I don't know why you keep asking me about animal crackers after the first hundred times it isn't funny any more.
The one I get the most is "well then what do you eat??"
There are so many foods to choose from! And I have found so many new things that I never ate before and now love!
We are not all Democrats.
We do not all drive Volkswagens.
We don't all wear Birkentsocks.
We're not unhealthy.
Yes, we bathe and we veggie women shave our legs and pits.
We don't assault people and call it a protest.
We don't try to force our lifestyle on others.
We don't feel morally superior to meat-eaters.
Killing bugs that are in our home does not make us hypocrites.
We don't all wear tie-dye.
I am an omni and what I have learned from visiting here is that vegans are not all extremists and that there are more food options then one thinks. I have to admit, that I used to think that if you didn't like to eat salad every day you were screwed. I have learned differently and I have incorporated a fair amount of veggie recipes into my repertoire. My fave being a chickpea sliders (mini burgers).
My hats off to all of the 'normal" veggie and vegans who sacrifice to make a difference!
BTW, by normal, that was an exclusion of anyone named Ashely that frequents this section. LOL! Everyone else meets that definition!
We are not all unhealthy and anorexic. Vegetarian diets eaten right are healthier than diets with meat.
We do not all support PETA. I think PETA is for a good cause, but goes over the top sometimes.
And last of all, I don't hate/give dirty looks to meat eaters. It's a lifestyle choice, alright? I don't care.
That we don't get enough protein.
We don't treat people differently based on whether they are veg or not.
I treat everyone with respect and kindness (in real life, not always in this disgusting mess of a joke called Y!A) and I don't talk about being veg unless someone asks with genuine interest.
If I had to choose one, it would be, not all of us are trying to change everyone into a vegetarian or vegan. For the most part we just want the same respect concerning out dietary choice as meat-eaters do.
1. That vegetarians are not all unhealthy or suffering from malnutrition.
2. That vegetarians do not secretly crave meat.
3. That vegetarians are not all smug annoying people who never shut up about it.
4. People who eat any kind of animal (fish, seafood, birds, etc) are not vegetarian.
5. That soy foods are bad for you (unless you are allergic to them).
6. Vegetarians do not all think exactly alike, sometimes they even disagree with each other; just like other people.
That I have no qualms about kicking a** when someone pisses me off. Make no mistake, I'm not a pacifist.
We don't believe we are better than those who eat meat. We are not sick because of a "lack of protien", we don't harrass meat eaters. It is not a fad. And that we don't just care about animals.
1) I would love to put the protein myth to bed once and for all. I get so bloody tired of answering it.
2) I would also like people stop asking about the plants. And about animal crackers. If I find a vegan variety, I'll eat them. Maybe.
3) Do I look like I don't get enough to eat?
4) I don't eat sprouts, and I don't eat broccoli.
5) I'm not a hippie, and I only have ONE pair of Birkenstocks.
6) Vegetarians do not eat animal flesh of any kind. So if you eat fish, you aren't a vegetarian. If you eat chicken, you aren't a vegetarian. Until you stop eating the flesh of animals, don't even think of calling yourself vegetarian. Please.
There are some other good answers here, so I'll leave it at this.
That vegetarianism/veganism is only a diet and nothing more
