How does someone become a vegetarian, and at the same time doesn't like to eat vegitables?!
Answers: my friend was talking about turning into a vegetarian, since he saw many videos of animal cruelty on peta.org, hes thinking of turning vegetarian but he doesn't like any vegetables . how is he going to accomplish that? would he just have to get used to it or is there another way
That's me. I hate veges. I usually stick to eating beans and soy products to get my vitamins. Healthy cereals and salads,. I'm extremely picky but I live with it somehow
He could always eat soy-based meat substitutes. Also, he could try preparing his vegetables in a different way than he's used to. That might change his mind about vegetables.
I am not a vegetarian, but it seems impossible that he could live on beans and soy alone. There is no way he'll be able to get all the vitamins and minerals he needs.
He doesn't like any of the thousands of vegetables out there? I'm sure he likes a few vegetables.
Also, vegetarians can getprotein from peanut-butter and eat things like sunflower seeds, nuts, almonds, raisins, rice, tofu, veggie burgers, etc.
if he already doesn't eat veggies then he's probably malnourished. cut out meat and he's left with one food group: starches, which is the basis of the Third World countries diet...sounds dangerous to me! He needs to add lots of veggie sources of protein and lots of fruits and veggies
Urghhh... I never liked PETA, from the moment I heard about in a mini-course about Biotechnology. They prevent new medications or cures from coming up by trying to protect animals more than humans.
He must like SOME veggies... Do fruits count? If not, broccoli and carrots, diced and steamed!
Encourage him to become one anyways. The hard lessons in life are the most well learned ones. I bet after he is discharged from the hospital on a saline/IV protein drip, he may realize that PETA are just a bunch of whiny, pretentious yuppies with no keen view of the real world.
He is going to have to find some veggies that he will eat. Or maybe a new way to prepare them. Whether he goes vegetarian or remains a meat eater if he wants to be healthy he needs to eat some veggies and fruits.
Become a "pastatarian" hehe
Seriously though, you could probably eat a balanced diet eating a variety of soy products, fruits, nuts, etc, though variety is the key then.
Your friend might try veggie tempura, for example, for an introduction to veggies since anything fried tends to taste good. Or try "hidden" vegetables in fruit smoothies (nutrients without the taste. There are several books geared towards hiding vegetable in food for children- one written by Seinfeld's wife. These might help). Don't force him into the "Scary" green leafies until later!
I started off just like him, I saw a video and I went vegetarian. But, I hated veggies! It's been over a year now, and I've learned to love...
Carrots
Squash
Edamame
Asparagus
Brocolli
Cucumber
Peas
Corn
& More =]
If he doesn't like them, mix them in with things like rice and noodles, that's what I do. I also like veggie dumplings, lettuce wraps, and vegetable wraps.
