Hi. Make your own chunky chips by cutting as many potatoes as you like in to large chip shapes then parboil them. Sieve them, place on a baking tray and spray with 'fry light' and oven cook for 30-35 minutes at 450 f or gas 7. You can buy a product called fish-less fish cakes in Holland and Barratt made by realeat. cook these in a frying pan by just spraying them with a little fry light and turn them intermittently . Serve with black pepper(or salt) and vinegar.

eat a brownie.
yum

I'm a veggie and I don't think anything will. You could try battered Quorn pieces and chips with plenty of Salt and Vinegar. When I feel this way nothing helps as nothing tastes like meat!! Eg Bacon, there is no substitute.

im not sure just try somat you havnt tryed before and just hope it goes away

Suck a lolly! Honestly =) I've been a veggie for 15 years and lolly pops help with any situation.... I sound lame, huh? Best of luck, don't give in! Princess Lola x

Fry up some tofu that has been marinated in a favorite sauce... :)
Better and tastes similar because texture is similar ( I think)

if it has got a face don't eat it.

cravings usually indicate a lack of something that your body needs so you may well be not having a balanced diet and are lacking in one or more essential nutrients.. i would suggest looking in to how you can get fish oils or fish oil substitutes to supplement your diet.. youd probably get goood advice at a health food store... or just go with your craving and perhaps eat fish one day per week...............................

Cravings can be the result of a nutritional defeciency, look at your diet and troubleshoot it, alternativaly find your local neils yard or somwhere like that for advice, they all have quilified nutritionalists working for them.

Maybe however, you (like the rest of us from time to time) simply fancy a nice unhealthy deep fat fried dinner once in a while. If this is the case, find a veg friendly chippy (there are plenty about), make your own, or if you really want to try the real thing, get a friend to buy a fish supper and try a small bit :p

If worse comes to worst, have the fish and chips. After 6 years, chances are you're not going to enjoy them. I used to love fish and chips. After 8 months of being vegetarian I tried them and it tasted disgusting.

I agree with Meg. I recently ate a ham and cheese sandwich. It was disgusting.

eat a brownie...or cookies. =]
they make the world go round! well so does boco burgers. =]]

um... i hated fish when i did eat meat, lol. but maybe you could fry tofu? make your own chips. its much easier to cook at home because you control what goes into your food

There is NOTHING that you can't make veggie-style!
Try this recipe:

I've never been into fish so I haven't tried it, but that recipe is from one of my all-time favorite recipe sites so it might be worth giving it a shot.
For the batter, I'd just mix a little folour with water, then prep a big bowl fo flour with whatever spices you want (I like a lot of pepper and cayenne when I'm battering something). Dip the tofu in the water/flour mixtuer, then in the flour, then BACK in the water then into the flour one more time. OR you could get some tempura batter mix if you want it to be the really light, crispy batter you were probably used to.
If you're really dying to have something greasy and crispy just buy some oil and some frozen "chips" and fry the night away.
Once in a while won't hurt you!

most fish and chip shops use palm oil. beef dripping is unheard of in chipies. so assuming im right,, then just have the chips?

For the fish craving try eating foods rich in omega 3.

With the chip craving I found a Spanish omelette ( a real one with potatoes that is) helps to get rid of it.

eat a chick'n boca burger. mmmm. perfectly vegetarian and yummy.

Fish is still meat. Therefore if you eat fish you arent really a vegetarian, just a picky eater.

Why does it matter if it's cooked in beef fat? Fish isn't vegetarian no matter what it's cooked in.

FISH *IS* MEAT!!!!!!!!

You are nutrient deficience besides not enjoying life. Eat the goddamn fish 'n chips and love every minute of it. They are DELICIOUS and loaded wtih Omega-3. Sooooooooooooo freaking healthy. Life is too short.

Why go through life being miserable and depriving yourself of things that you want and are within your means. Remember. A little of what you fancy does you good. Go get your fish and chips. Enjoy them

eh by gum whats a fiiinne nurthern lass lik thee sen duin not eaten fish an chips stable of t'diet in yurkshur lol fish and chips cooked in beef dripping is the best palm oil or any other oil is just for them softy southerners

I don't think we are giving you enough credit for what you are saying. You are doing a great job resisting your craving. You were free to go in that chippy at any time and nobody could have stopped you. But you listened to your heart and didn't give in. A big well done to ya! : )

LOL at whoevers going on about fish being healthy. I think the deep frying outweighs any omega 3s in there!

Anyhooooo
you can buy microwave chipshop chips in the freezer bit of supermarkets now! they taste quite authentic in the way theyre really stodgy (then again all microwave chips are) and just shove salt and vinegar on them?

as for the fish bit, cant help never liked it - sorry!

go steal a wooden chip fork to add to authenticity whatever you do, heehe

cut an aubergine length ways to make a fillet shape, batter and deep fry, with chips

I wouldn't try it myself, but there's a fungus called stinkhorn that's non-toxic and supposedly tastes of fish.

Go out and buy some Scampy Fries (fishy crisps) and some salt and vinegar crisps and eat both bags at the same time :)

mmmm

sorry, but you'll not like my suggestion...which is to have some REAL food for a change and indulge!
