What are these tofu puffs I have been eating? Like normal tofu but all fluffy and nicer?!

Question: I wonder if the normal tofu is better for me? I wonder how they make it puff like that?

Mmm they are really good, aren't they? Yes they're deep fried tofu puffs. They are extra good if you cut them in half before adding them to your stir-fry, they absorb the sauce like a sponge!

They aren't as good for you as regular tofu, but they are a great way to start eating tofu if you haven't ever tried it before, or if you don't like the non-fried kind. They also are great for when you have company over and you want to introduce them to tofu for the first time (like, friends that eat meat and they think tofu is gross).

AND they freeze really well, and you can take them right out of the freezer frozen and chop them in half and add them to your food, cause they cook up quickly.

If they are a little oily and dark on the outside,it might be the same tofu they use for cone sushi. which is a deep fried tofu so regular tofu would be better for you but they are really yummy.

The puffy ones are deep fried.

Yup, deep fried.

Bad for you. They use the cheapest oil they can find. Usually filled with defoaming agents. All deepfried stuff used that crap oil -- at restaurants too, unless otherwise noted.
