Learn to cook! Seriously.. it's fun, and you can get creative with meals. Start with simple things like stir fry and chili. They're easy to make, and you can put pretty much anything into them and they'll still taste good. If you need recipes, goveg.com has a bunch.

Things like grains and beans you can buy in bulk and they're really cheap. And, find a place near you that sells cheap fruits and veggies. Maybe a co-op? I only spend about $20 a week in groceries because I buy bulk whole foods and cook at home.

There are MANY books available about this. Check out the cookbook section of your bookstore and you will find dozens of books on vegetarian dishes from simple to gourmet elaborate.
One of the best for beginners is "Diet for a Small Planet" by Frances Moore Lappe. It outlines the basics of how to combine grains and beans to get nutritionally complete protein, with several simple, easy tasty recipes to illustrate the principle.
It also contains some really good discussions of why vegetarianism is good for you, the planet, and reducing world hunger. Congratulations and good luck!

Peta has a vegetarian starter kit, it is free. They have a lot of ingo on becoming veg., there are also some vegetarian forums out there you could join and the people that go there are very nice and will help you out. You can be a vegetarian and keep it cheap, there are also lots of things you could eat that are quick. Good luck, and don't listen to the veg. haters, they don't understand.

I didn't know how to cook either. I got some basic instructions and just winged it. Experimenting is part of the fun of vegan eating.

Or you could be a raw foodest. Just be ready for the detox symptoms.

I usually cook bulk grain or beans in bulk. Soak for 3-12 hours in big pan, rinse, put water(1.5-2 times the amount of food) in pan, bring to light boil, turn off heat, let sit for 15-60 minutes - until water is all absorbed.

Then there's stuff that doesn't need cooking:

Granola
nuts
seeds
fruit
chips

don't worry about that idiot who said stuff about your grammar.

i don't think you should try vegan yet. i think its best to first try vegetarian.

eggs are easy and real good for people just starting vegetarian to eat more of.

salad sandwiches with cheese , thats easy.

I think you are actually asking how to cook.

If you can cook a meaty-meal then you can cook a veggie meal.

Try www.vegsoc.org for starter kits, lots of recipies and advice.

Or buy 2 or 3 veggie cook books, i think every book shop sells them.

Or better still, search out a veggie resturant and go and sample thier food - the menu will give you ideas.

You can get vegitarian stir fries that you just let simmer, and you can pretty much eat any vegitable. Did you know if you dont eat meat its been proven you have more energy. ;)

its easy to become vegiterean eat everything but meat and check your ingreadents there might be meat products in there. Vegan... well thats too hard for me :-( sorry.

All you need to know is that you can only eat vegtables & fruits.. and oreos. =/ My sister went vegan, and she is soo fat now.
