To the vegetarians out there....?!
Answers: What is your main reason for choosing not to eat meat? For ethical, health or religious beliefs? I would say for me it was an ethical decision.
Ethical on my end. I just don't want my diet to be the reason for animal suffering. (It probably is healthier in *alot* of ways--and even environmentally justified--but that's just a plus, not my main reason.)
Looking back, I actually find that I don't miss meat almost at all. Even my ultimate comfort food--sushi--is just as good in veggie form. So why contribute to unnecessary animal suffering?
for me, it's health really, i don't like the idea of a "carcus" in my body, especially when i know what they are fed, how they're are killed, and what is and isn't put into it, i just don't want it in my body, i mean, i have a dog, i can't imagine eating her, like i would normaly eat a chicken or a cow, i have alot more energy too when i don't eat it
I say health reasons. Why does everything we do have to have a political reason for doing something. We make a big deal out of the most inane things!!
The way one chooses to eat...is ethical??? I know...the whole animal thing...but come on....
I guess being vegetarian is "supposed" to make you "pure", so why not have the reason's behind it pure as well....and leave the nonsense to real political issues!!
Kind of all, I first off think that every animal has a right to live, and eating them, when their is a plethora of plants to consume is wrong.
Secondly eating meat is wasteful, let me explain that I belive the statistics were that for the enegery in one pound of beef that cow has to eat 11 pounds of plants and grain. The exact same amount of energy can be consumed just by eating one pound of vegtables.
Thats being wasteful with energy. Health wise it's better for you to not eat meat, I find when I quit eating I was more active and I feel better overall.
Religiously I'm pagan and think that eating animals is kind of a sacrialige, because your eating someone, your not just eating an animal, Your eating a person in a way, who had thoughts and had emotions.
For me it is because I can't bear to think I have to kill an animal to feed myself. Even if a Religion, even if God, even if all scientist, even if the whole world sustain that humans can't live without meat, I would rather fast to death than eat meat.
ethical reasons.
I never enjoyed eating meat in the first place, so it made sense for me to stop. I actually stopped drinking milk before I stopped eating meat, because it makes no sense for humans to drink milk that is made for cows. Ethical reasons were also a large part of my decision, and better health came along with it all.
i felt an overwhelming feeling of guilt every time i eat it and i dont want to feel guilty so i dont eat it
I love animals, and once I saw a video of how they're treated and killed for meat, I stopped eating meat. Since I don't support it, I choose to not eat meat.
I also love the environment, and I like to keep it clean and filled with trees. =]
And...my health has gotten better, but that's now why I went vegetarian.
I just wanna take this moment to thank all you vegans and vegetarians for your sacrifice for the rest of us. It's not just more meat for us...it's better quality, prices and even the price of organic meat has gone down thanks to increasing numbers of you all. Thanks for fighting for "humane" treatment of my dinners. It means a lot when I friccassee and curry my chicken.
Love always,
Golden
