How hard was it for you to go to being vegan?!

Answers: I am new to this. It is hard for me because there are all kinds of "hidden animal products" in foods you wouldnt think would have them.

it wasnt too hard really. just read labels on things, and anything questionable dont eat, or ask. i started out by going to grocery stores and buying things i knew didnt contain anything that was once living (minus fruits and vegetables :) ) but i know i was eating a lot of bean and guacamole burritos. and hummus and pickles and so many other good things. oh, thai food is also a good choice, just make sure they dont throw in any fish eggs with your tofu. good luck.

Really easy. I don't miss meat at all, and was never a "cheese addict", either. There are *so* many great substitutes and alternatives out there...from burgers, to soy milk, etc, etc.

One clarification about my response. I have made an honest attempt to not purchase foods with animal ingredients, but I also haven't kicked myself too hard if I make a mistake. (I'm sure there have been times that I've accidentally had egg based pasta, for instance.) I don't want to be the "difficult vegan" and grill my food servers every time I'm at a restaurant, for instance. Eating out is supposed to be fun, both for you and the people you're dining with - not a dietary inquisition. But I'll ask casually if there's any dairy or eggs in a dish, and order accordingly.

So---depending how strict you want to be--my answer may not be the best measure of how easy the vegan experience is.

But in general? DEFINITELY go for it...you won't miss anything, and you'll be doing the right thing to lessen animal suffering!!
