Question for vegans and vegetarians???!

Question: What is a good way to tolerate hate and ignorance?

As we all know I am a football player and a vegan which comes to many peoples surprise.

I asked an honest question in the football section and this user “Donnie Darko” give me a disturbing answer cause of my life style choice. Donnie is regular user of the football section and not a random troll.

This has really upset me.

Take a look for yourself: ( if you don't mind give thumbs downs.)

Try to "love" and respect those hateful and intolerant people anyway. "Kill" them with kindness or just ignore the remarks.

Donnie's response is a bit disturbing, but that goes to show how closed-minded he is. To segregate a person because he is vegan is foolish.

I wish nothing but good things for you, too. Thanks for the best answer :D Report It

  • you should speak with a psychologist / psychiatrist, the fact that something as banal as that is deeply disturbing to you could be a real issue. honestly, eat whatever you want. at my restaurants we'll cook what you like. we want you to be happy. But really, talk to someone, it will help you in the long run. good luck.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear people cant respect your lifestyle.

I personally am not a veggie or vegan, but I can respect your choices. I think its wrong for people to sit here and preach about how your choices are wrong.

Alot of people here are judgemental. Don't let them upset you, you know what you want and why and thats all that matters. You dont need our approval!

If you are going to get so bent out of shape because of what someone on the internet said without knowing how serious or true his intentions were. Maybe you should not be online anymore. Because you will only run into this again. This guy obviously does not hate everyone, or is hateful towards others as he claims to be. Because if he was to be he would not be on a public forum where hundreds of thousands of people come and, well, basically socialize in the form of questioner and answerer.

As for being vegan, oh well, whatever like I or anyone else on here truly cares in the end. I am not a vegan, vegetarian or any of that stuff, does anyone on here care about what I am? Answer: no. If you are this upset about what someone has to say about you being a vegan, you must have some qualms about it as well. For if you did not, things people say about your vegan ways would not bother you as much.

Let it go or stay away from public forums such as this.

Because he is immoral, and you are not. He must eat meat, all meat eaters are immoral.

Just be confident in your beliefs and treat the haters with the level of respect you feel they deserve. Ask youself if people in real life treat you like this ?? I bet they don't. The posters here are just hidng behind anonymity, it somehow makes them feel brave. A real "bully" like trait

Look at the answers Skully posts, she has a real hard time posting without insulting me.

Look at her rant in an answer here, i didn't even ask the question and yet she still cannot help herself:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Just laugh it off, adn laugh at them to yourself, the people that really know you, and care about you, are the ones that matter.

If the haters think they are actually getting to us then they are sadly mistaken. Thier hatred will fester inside like a cancerous growth and screw them up in the end.

Now, you and I both spend a lot of time in the football (american) section and you know that there are some real nutcases in there (Endive for example). Just ignore them and they will eventually go away.

However, you do stoke the fires on some people in there. I am not being mean, but some times you say things that are a little inflammatory as well. Most people in the midwest and south are not vegan, and if they are talking about football, they don't want to hear anything about it. Like Isaid, I am not being mean, but just an observation.

Ignore it. It doesn't look like a very popular post.

You're a big bad football player and something like that really bothers you? Do you play for Amish Central?

michael h----post the link skully wants you to post and end it.

lo_mcg---I looked at in the other question that you posted it. No bullying by either. Doesn't change the fact that until michael h posts the link to the questions in question, those folks are going to harass him and I will question his credibility. He quoted what he said that he said in a recent post so if he knows where the posts are so he can quote them, why can't he post the link so everyone can see exactly what went on? Of course, those who are accusing him could do the same, but they aren't the one's being called out.

Also, the person you referred to as a regular in V & V at the other question, I've never seen before.

Truthfully, there isn't a good way to tolerate anything. If you believe the lifestyle you have chosen is just, then it is your choice alone. Where there are differences, there will always be discrimination.

To tolerate hate, counter with love.
To tolerate ignorance, attack with intelligence.

I don't think tolerate hate and ignorance should be tolerated at all. We are tolerating WAY too much these day and that is why this world is going to hell -- the evil people are just walking all over us and we do nothing about it but perhaps complain to our coworkers in casual conversation and then say, "Yeah, well, what are you gonna do... back to work I go..."

either get over it or let it eat away at you...it's your choice

ignore him and others like him there bastards that dont seem to care for anyone but them self

Actually Cookie Me-, Skully is currently telling people whose questions she answers that Michael H bullied, or chided, a teenager for working at McDonalds. She's not giving a link, so here it is:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    It looks as if
'Michael H bullies kids who work in Mcdonalds'
is fast becoming an established V&V omni-myth. Soon people who never saw the thread will be claiming it as fact. Let's nip this one in the bud now.

The young person was certainly bullied by a few people. One person, a regular on V&V, said 'I think you've just elevated the definition of hypocrisy to a higher level…So you put money before principle?' But that person wasn't Michael H; HE said 'You are earning your way at 16, congratulations …Plase make you own choices and do what feels comfortable. I'm sure you'll be out of there as soon as you feel able'

Follow the link and judge this one for yourself.

I'm guessing that guy is just pretending to get a rise out of people.. My best advice would to be to just ignore them. Acting mad or talking back just gives people like him that sick pleasure they so desperately want.. Being kind when people are rude to you makes them feel about what they did, regardless of how much they pretend it doesnt hurt them.
