Is the lactic acid in margarine from animals?!
Answers: "Lactose" is derived from dairy, but "lactate" and "lactic acid" can be produced from cornstarch or beet sugar, and are both suitable for vegans.
every time you breathe in, you send thousands of airborne microorganisms to their doom.
STOP BREATHING! SAVE THE GERMS!
no way....lactic acid is is a chemical compound that plays a role in several biochemical processes. Im a vegetarian too so I know how it feels to be paranoid about everything...but lactic acid is not animal:P hope i eased your mind:)
Lactic acid is a bitter tasting acid that forms when certain bacteria combine with lactose (milk sugar). Lactic acid is used to impart a tart flavor, as well as in the preservation of some foods. It occurs naturally in the souring of milk and can be found in foods such as cheese and yogurt. It is also used in the production of some fermented foods like saurkraut and pickles. It is not vegan product, although there are some "synthetic" substitutes.
Lactic acid is primarily found in sour milk products, such as: koumiss, leban, yogurt, kefir and some cottage cheeses. The casein in fermented milk is coagulated (curdled) by lactic acid.
<<< Although it can be fermented from lactose (milk sugar), most commercially used lactic acid is derived by using bacteria such as Bacillus acidilacti, Lactobacillus delbueckii or Lactobacillus bulgaricus to ferment carbohydrates from nondairy sources such as cornstarch, potatoes and molasses. Thus, although it is commonly known as "milk acid", products claiming to be vegan do sometimes feature lactic acid as an ingredient. >>>
Lactic acid may also be found in various processed foods, usually either as a pH adjusting ingredient, or as a preservative (either as antioxidant or for control of pathogenic micro-organisms). It may also be used as a fermentation booster in rye and sourdough breads.[2]
MARGARINE all the while is made from the palm oil & it has emulsifier added to this oil that U get. That is why it is in the form U get. When U buy margarine, read the contents & it whoudl tell U what has been added to the items U have bought.
Margarine is vegetable "lard" some call this. Cakes can turn out quite nice with margarine as butter substitute. Most wont know the difference. In asia it is widely used for cakes & cheaper too than butter.
There is no animal extract ot content in margarine. For health conscious folks margarine is consumed daily & not butter for toast & sandwiches
Highly, highly unlikely.
