Make raw mousse pie!

Avocado as a dessert ingredient sounds crazy, I know, but it is SO good. I make avocado pie all the time just winging it. Try adding different flavorings if you want (like orange oil) or use different kinds of nuts in the crust. You can also just blend together avocado, raw agave nectar, and carob and eat it with a spoon. Put it in the freezer for half an hour and it's almost like ice cream.
I absolutely love avocado, so I had no problem throwing avocadoes or guacamole in my salads. Oh, I just remembered another recipe that you might like. Blend avocado with cilantro, a little red pepper, some sea salt, garlic, jalapeno, and some water in a high speed blender until it gets just warm enough (you should get yourself a digital thermometer - you'd be amazed at how 95 degree food seems HOT after eating everything raw and cold for a while!). You'll want to add enough water as you blend to get a soup consistency. I had that at a raw restaurant once and recreated it at home - it's spicy and warm and delicious!
Nuts are a good way to get calories, too. I make a nacho cheesey sauce with red pepper and pine nuts...yum!
Have you gotten any books? A raw diet is awesome, but it's important to do it healthfully. It's easy to not get enough calories and to get in a rut even though you know a variety of foods gives you the best nutrition.
I'd be happy to share some recommendations and recipes if you want to email me.
Good luck!

salads

you can cover anything with a vinaigrette and stand the flavor.

Lime juice.

Are you sure your avocados are absolutely fresh?

For me, my gripe with avocadoes is more a texture thing than a taste thing. I find that mashing them up, adding seasonings and calling them guacamole makes all the difference in the world. Maybe disguising the taste with seasonings would work for you?

Make this guacamole--I never liked avocados before trying this: 2 avocados, peeled, pitted and mashed in a bowl. Sprinkle with the juice of 1/2 lime. Throw in a small onion, diced and two tomatoes, diced. Sprinkle with a little salt and about 2 Tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro. It is delicious! Make sure you get the lime juice on immediately after mashing--or the avocado will turn brown.

I think they are so delicious! I eat one a day. Here's a tip- buy them green and let them ripen in your window until they are just between green and brown- they will be softer, but still feel a bit hard. I prefer them this way as opposed to overly ripe.

Move to Costa Rica and get unbelievable avocados.

Make guacamole, slice them and put them between two slices of bread with some cucumber, tomato and mustard. Slather on the Louisiana Hot Sauce. Drizzle with fresh squeezed lemon juice and pepper. cut and put into your fresh salad and take a bite of avocado along with something else in the salad that you do like.

Many of the "Uncook Books" use Avocados in their recipes but unless you are eating them plain you will not TASTE them. They are very neutral in raw foods. My Fav uncook book is "Raw Foods made Easy" by Jennifer Cornbleet.
Give the recipes a try, I think you'll be amazed at the taste or lack of avocado taste.

If you really don't like avocados, don't eat them. They will be in short supply soon, anyway, from the CA fires. Are you eating lots of nuts and seeds?

Avocados are more a texture than a taste. I should add that I hated avocados until I went raw. Then I made a (raw) spicy "taco" recipe and have loved them since, even when reverting back to cooked vegan.

You hate avocados?? I'm a meat eater but even i like avocados especially sliced by itself. anywy, o can mke a quick guacamole by adding store bought or home made salsa to chopped not mashed avocados. Just keep adding until you get he consistency and taste that you want or can tolerate. Are you sure you are getting good fresh not spoiled avocados?

If its calories that you are worried about increase your intake of nuts they have plenty of calories in them. Just because you are on a raw diet doesn't mean you have to eat things you hate.

thanks for the question. I have tried for years to teach myself how to like avocados and I just cannot do it. I seen a couple recipes here I think I will try, if that doesn't do it I give up!

I have to agree with exsft on this one. Until this thread, I've never imagined people hating avocados. I think they are amazing. If you haven't already, you should try Haas avocados. They are the smaller (about the size of your fist), darker ones. They are usually cheaper, and I like them a lot better.

If you still don't like them and still want to eat them, I do recommend lime or lemon juice.

Personally, I think that's very odd since I think avocados taste AWESOME.

Are they ripe avocados? Organic?

Anyway, if you don't like them, don't eat them -- simple.
You don't NEED avocados to be raw.
