DO those soy cheese slices or 'veggiecheese' melt well? my kids love grilled cheese...?!
our kraft cheese slices is the only thin in our fridge that is inhumane. lol weird i know but any suggestions as a substitute would be nice.
Answers: my kids loves grilled cheese sandwiches but we only eat humane dairy products. there's a local dairy farm that provides humane milk, butter and cream. however they dont make cheese. i see the alternative cheese slices but do they melt?

Some do, some don't. We make Pizza out of soy cheese.... You just have to try few brands available to you and see which one would work the best. More importantly, some brand has strange flavor unlike real cheese. THAT may be more of a problem for you and your children.
SOME of the more expensive veggie ones WILL melt, but I think they taste gritty-ish.
it does not melt and it does not taste like cheese... the alterante with a good taste and something good is fraft 2% cheese
umm i guess... all cheese melts :) thanks for being humane:)
just curious what makes milk humane- is it the way the cow is milked?
I am not going to bash your views, but it seems like an extravagant way to live- something I don't have the understanding of.
Either way, I have tried those cheeses and they are nothing to write home about. They melt but taste icky. Your kids will know the difference. Let them eat regular cheese- it has tons of protein & calcium.
ya know if I couldn't have real cheese and my choice was soy cheese or fake cheese, I would choose no cheese at all. I am sorry Luna, but it is my favorite food.
I use them all the time. They taste fine and melt just like real cheese. When I first got the soy cheese I thought they would be horrible or at least not that good. I was surprised to not notice all that much difference.
Most soy cheeses contain casein, which is a milk product. If you specifically find vegan cheese, it's probably going to be Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet. I've heard good things about it's taste and melting qualities from fellow vegans, especially the mozzarella, although I've never tried it.
