How can I make this Thanksgiving special when..?!

Question: I'm a vegan and my mother refuses to cook a special meal for Thanksgiving.. Normally, she doesn't have a problem with me being a vegan, but she won't cook anything special for Thanksgiving because I "should" eat meat.. & she said that she will just cook another regular meal..

Introduce her to the joy of falafel - easy to make and very tasty (Fantastic Foods makes a mix that is pretty widely available at most grocery stores). She SHOULD be thankful you are vegan - you'll live longer and have less health issues than carnivores. Make it your contribution to the meal and just enjoy all the other non-meat dishes she makes. It's especially yummy with lettuce and (soy) cheese on pita.

oh that REALLY sucks! I'm the only vegetarian in my family too, but my mom made special things for me, like a vegetarian caserol. Anyways how old are you, because if your old enough then you should go to the grocery store! :P

Anyways, try to talk her into it, and if she lets you make something, here is a website with some ideas!!

Well, are you having mashed potatoes? Brussels sprouts? vegetable side dishes? Almost all thanksgiving food is vegetarian except the turkey and (sometimes) stuffing. Throw cranberry sauce on veggies, and it's festive!

good luck!

Your mother is fukkin rude so you should probably learn how to cook.

It's a shame that you didn't discuss this with your mother before today. I don't know how things are in your state, but all the grocery stores where I live are closed today, so it wouldn't be easy to run out and find an alternate vegan meal.

Since you're a vegan, there is probably very little being served that will suit you, other than the vegetables and maybe the potatoes, if they're made without milk or real butter. When you said "she will just cook another regular meal" it sounds like she does intend to make you something to eat.

The amount of time she's putting into the Thanksgiving meal is probably overwhelming. She could probably have used your cooperation and insight earlier in the week to plan menu items which would better fit in with your dietary wishes.

Please try to enjoy the holiday without making too much of a fuss or last minute demands on your mom. It is a day to reflect and be thankful for what you DO have, not a day to be hurt about what you DON'T have.

Happy Thanksgiving.

She shouldn't have to cook a special meal for you. You shouldn't expect her to. You COULD nicely ask her not to put butter on the vegetables, to leave milk & butter out of the mashed potatoes and when you went shopping PRIOR to today, you could've asked to buy a bag of vegan stuffing and a couple cans of vegan gravy and then made that yourself.

lol jst eat meat 4 today then
turkys good 4 u :P
