Peta. Do you have to be a vegetarian to be in agreeance with this organization? ...?!

Question: I am 100% infavor of HUMAIN treatment of animals. I usualy find that I love amimals more than people but I eat meat and I'm sure I own things that have animal biproducts in them. I need some serious feedback. Thanks!

No, they aren't happy with just vegetarian because then you're forcing chickens and dairy cows to be slaves.. If you aren't vegan, you're just as bad as everyone else..
Just some random Peta info...
Just for the record, I don't really care if people choose to support Peta, but, I think they should be informed about them before posting links from them as fact..
Their entire goal is total animal liberation... That is the entire point of an animal rights organization which is why I am for animal welfare, not animal rights..
Total animal liberation would include...
To gradually get rid of all companion animals through mandatory altering and euthanasia...
http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-petaonp...
"We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes, but we believe that it would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed."
http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-respons...
"Animal Rights Uncompromised:
There's No Such Thing as a 'Responsible Breeder'"
http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-feralca...
"Having witnessed the painful deaths of countless feral cats instead of seeing them drift quietly "to sleep" in their old age, we cannot in good conscience advocate trapping, altering, and releasing as a humane way to deal with overpopulation and homelessness."
http://www.peta.org/feat-abc_campaign.as...
"The only way to make our communities "no-kill" is to work toward a "no-birth" nation through legislative measures that mandate spaying or neutering".

They also are against conservation of WILD animals through for instance, reintroduction to the wild
http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-predato...
If they don't want animals released to the wild, but, they want to get rid of zoo's, where do they want those animals to go?
http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-zoos.as...
"PETA opposes zoos because zoo cages and cramped enclosures deprive animals of their most basic needs.
Returning captive-bred animals to the wild is, in most cases, impossible because animals reared in zoos are denied the opportunity to learn survival skills, may carry diseases picked up from other animals at the zoo or even from people, and often have no natural habitat left to return to because of human encroachment."

PETA does not contribute even one cent to conservation efforts.. 83% of it's donations go to advertising PETA.. Only 8% even go to helping real living and breathing animals..
The worst I think is this lately..
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14626178/
They compared Steve Irwin, a man that did a great deal to educate and inspire love for wildlife for the 'average joe' to a cheap reality star and said they didn't shed any tears at his death... They are a horribly heartless group... Steve Irwin made wildlife exciting again for your average person.. I don't think anyone will ever come close to him in terms of interesting your average person.. If you know anything about Steve Irwin, you'd know he was really into conservation and actually had 4000 acres of preserve set up.. That's um, oh yeah, 4000 more acres then PETA has saved...
I really want to know what animals they think they are helping.. Not domestic animals, companion animals, working animals or wild animals, so, what animals exactly do they think they're helping?

I'm more on the animal welfare side of the fence.. I work in cat rescue and don't trust a thing Peta says.. They've been proven to support domestic terrorism... I prefer the ASPCA myself.. At least they aren't trying to make my dog the last generation of dogs..

No you don't.

No. You just need to be incredibly ignorant.

"I am 100% infavor of HUMAIN treatment of animals. I usualy find that I love amimals more than people but I eat meat and I'm sure I own things that have animal biproducts in them. I need some serious feedback. Thanks!"
I'm not sure if you meant to write humane or human.
You're sure you own things that have some animal biproducts in them?
Animal byproducts are milk, cream, butter, cheese, chocolate etc. Unless you don't eat these things but still eat meat (is there even a name for that) then you definitely eat animal byproducts.
Just to inform you, a VEGETARIAN doesn't eat meat and a VEGAN doesn't eat dairy, eggs or meat.
And no, PETA is not made up of vegans and vegetarians.
If you own leather, wool, cashmere etc. you also have animal byproducts. Even silk, which is caterpillar spit.

PETA has the right message but the wrong means of promoting it. They lost my respect when they juxtaposed the Nazi concentration camps to dead animals.

Oh dear, I am not a fan of peta. Too preachy for my blood. They have a decent message but back it up with absolutely horrible examples.
*cringe*

and I think they're glamorizing vegetarianism way too much in my opinion.

I love how people support an organization that they don't know anything about.
For all of you pet lovers who send money to PETA, I hope you know they're against people having pets. They consider it a form of animal slavery, so go ahead and send your money and support to a group that thinks you're bad people.

Just so no one gets offended, I didn't aim that response at anyone else who responded. I'm just sick to death of seeing some dimwit bimbo holding her precious puppy and preaching about how great PETA is.

You can agree with anything and anyone you want. No, not all PETA members are vegetarian. Just like not all vegetarians are members of, or even support, PETA.
