Arent you getting sick of people telling other people that eating meat is wrong?!
What do you all think?
FYI, I'm not trying to insult anyone I'm just asking a question that needs to be answered =]
Answers: Sure you can voice your opinion about meat eaters but when you start telling people there cold-blooded murderers for it then thats when its a bit OTT.
What do you all think?

Yes! I don't go round telling vegetarians to eat meat so why do they have to force their point of view down my throat? Everybody has the right to choose what they want and don't want to eat - just let them be.
my teeth were designed for eating meat.
so i do.
if i had to kill it before i could eat it, i would
To be honest, I can't remember the last time somebody telling me that eating meat is wrong, so therefore I can't be sick of hearing it.
I think the theory here can apply to anything:
OK, I understand you believe in something and I appreciate that and the fact we all have our own minds.....but just cos you believe in something DOESN'T mean I do!!!
i.e. if you're a vegetarian, great, fantastic, I'm really pleased for you - but I DONT WANT to be a vegetarian!!!!
Great question!!
many vegetarians tell meat eaters that eating meat is wrong because they feel enlightened and are trying to spread their knowledge. its just like christians trying to save peoples souls by scaring them into beleiving in god and that jesus is the savior. at the end of the day it IS a personal choice, but we get a whole lot of crap for being veg from people who eat meat. we feel that eating meat is wrong, and that by sharing our knoledge even less animals will loose their lives so you all can eat. when there are soooo many other options
Good point - one other to consider - all the veggies that stand by their principles is fine BUT, I don't think they realise the damage they do - all those pesticides used killing insects and not just the bad one's - tut tut.
We are designed to eat meat and veggies if we so choose that is why we were given sharp canine teeth to rip the succulent cooked flesh of dead cows to pieces - Mmm! Hungry now
im a vegetarian but not vegan and still get stick for eating milk. x lol at vegans
am sure every one eats meat wel nt every one but meat is made for eating.
I personally don't care for mean very much but I think everyone is entitled to their own tastes. It's not like people are going out and killing their own cow...
You just know the wrong kind of vegetarians. For me being vegetarian is about choosing not to eat meat. I don't mind if you eat meat. Its your choice, just like its my choice not too.
I get sick of people making fun of me for not eating meat. There's only so many times I can hear "You're a vegetarian?"..."Yes"..."Oohh, shame" without wanting to punch someone!
eating meat isn't wrong
in fact its good for you as part of a balanced diet
we probably wouldn't be here today if our ancestors hadn't eaten meat , something veggies should think about
i think the problem most people have is the conditions the meat they eat is reared in
all the best
Ian
Eating meat is not wrong - an examination of human teeth verifies that we are meant to eat meat...................
The more they go on about it the more meat i eat
EAT SOME MEAT TODAY..EAT SOME NOW
I most definitely am sick of these people trying to force their opinions on those of us who do enjoy meat.
We are designed to be carnivores and have been eating meat since man came onto this earth.
We have a neighbour who is obsessed with vegetarianism and constantly make comments to us and the kids about being killers of defenceless animals and,at times the kids get quite upset which in turn makes me mad.
I have no objection to those people who would rather eat vegetables and other things they like and do not go out of my way to make stupid comments or,force my opinions on someone else.
Most of these people started off eating meat in the first place anyway also, these same people will happily eat fish and sometimes chicken so,what going on with them after all its all meat of some kind.
I was in the Falklands with no vegetables,I wonder what all those"veggies"would have eaten.
Sorry I was going on a rant then so I have to stop myself.
I think that saying eating meat is wrong and cruel and all the rest of it is the most serious lack of foresight I can imagine.
It's one thing not to actually like the taste of meat, okay. People are different with regard to what they like to eat, fair enough.
But saying that it's wrong to kill animals to eat .... what they are forgetting is that we BREED animals for food. If all humans stopped eating meat and replaced it with a vegetarian diet in order to save the animals, we would in fact be in competition with other herbivores: cows, horses, sheeps, antelope, deer, etc. As the stronger species, we would dominate. This would mean that we would kill off the competition slowly - which would mean allowing the lovely animals to DIE OUT. Is this what you want? I don't think so.
They exist because we eat them. Simple as that.
No. I have a problem with battery farming. I think that shutting animals up in a limited and limiting space and force-feeding them hormones and other rubbish and making them live in their own excrement is inherently evil and should be stopped.
I grew up eating beef that had lived very happily in well-maintained fields of lush grass, with plenty of room to move around. This is how animals should live, according to nature.
And let me add this: like everything else we take into our bodies, eating meat should be done in moderation. You don't need it for every meal, you don't even need it every day. Overindulging on anything is unhealthy. Moderation is the name of the game.
The argument has always been that we meat eaters should only eat what we are prepared to kill ourselves.
They say we don't see the meat on a supermarket shelf as once a living breathing animal and to an extent that is true.
There will be a fair chunk of the population that wouldn't kill a chicken, or put a bolt gun to the head of a cow but i don't think that has little relevance to the fact we are happy to eat it.
We know that steak was once a cow, even my 10 year old daughter knows that and she's happy to eat it.
Personally i wouldn't have too much of a problem killing what i eat, we evolved as carnivours, it's how we became the species we did, why our digestive system works the way it does and if these people want to rant on about it then let them.
I see the world from a priorities point of view, i think all the do-gooders of this world should too in that we should deal with the most pressing. important, life threatening things in this world first.
Hundreds of thousands of adults and children die on this planet every year from famine, disease, etc, so shouldn't that be the focus of their life rather than worrying about me and you eating a Big Mac?
As salaamau 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, considering that many of those who are saying eating meat is wrong or that it is unhealthful are some of the world's leading medical and dietary authorities who have linked eating meat to colon cancer, stomach cancer, digestive problems, heart disease, clogged arteries, high cholesteral, etc., etc., etc., no, I am not tired of hearing it and I find myself hoping that more and more persons will listen.
Insha'Allah, considering that we could easily feed the entire population of the Earth if we ate primarily as vegetarians, providing everyone with nutritionally sound diets which would assist in the elimenation of many common diseases that are directly related to malnutrition, no, I find my self hoping that more and more persons will listen.
Insha'Allah, I will not call anyone who chooses to eat meats on a regular basis a "cold blooded murderer" as do so would clearly show that the person saying such does not understand the meaning of the word murder and that they are trying to impose his or her will upon others and we have nor right to do such. Unless one is "perfect" one should not be any too judgmental of others (but that applies to those who decry those whom they believe are incorrect in thier actions.)
Insha'Allah, let us all live, act and "eat" appropriately for the general welfare and greater benefit of all others.
Ma'a salaam
Definatlely. Nature has equipped me with the dentition and digestive system designed for an omnivore, and it works very well.
Having said that, I like to eat veggie at least one day a week, often two days to help out the mineral and roughage intake. And I only have a big juicy steak every three months or so (expensive).
I think those who think that meat eating is murder live in cloud-cuckoo land because they obviously don't appreciate how nature works; or what would happen to their precious vegeatble plots if all cattle and sheep etc were destroyed.
I've killed animals, slaughtered them, and eaten them. Personally I could care less what a veggie thinks, or anyone else for that matter. I like hunting (not with dogs and horses) on foot with a rifle or a bow. It's liberating! I am quite proud of the fact that I can survive without a grocery store. I could have just about any veggie eating meat within a week, in the bush. Most veggies don't even know what is safe to eat in the bush when you can't find an animal. You won't survive on bark, or bark soup.
Yes I am with you. As far as I'm concerned everybody has a right to an opinion, rightly or wrongly, but why they want to force it on to others is something I will never understand. They all seem very keen on rights but not the rights of one''s own opinion. I tell you what, if they ran into a hungry pack of animals in the wilds, I wonder if they would say, " we cannot have him/her, its a vegetarian ! If is wasn't for man breeding to feed most of the animals wouldn't be here anyway. If you don't like it, don't eat it, if you do; please enjoy it.
People should not be opinionated about another's choice of being a vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, or carnivore. It's a personal choice, and every single person should be able to make that choice without abuse or derision. I always want to ask people who are that militant "Who died and made you God ?!"
If anything, people should be attacked about their obesity, the way smokers are attacked about smoking. Just kidding!
People shouldn't be attacked, because it isn't being kind or thoughtful.
I think eating/not eating meat is a personal opinion. I'm a vegetarian, but wouldn't condemn anyone else for their dietary choices. It's none of my business.
Although I got into an argument a few weeks ago because a friend of a friend said that vegetarians were fine, but vegans were 'attention-seeking'. People like that drive me mad.
I feel that preaching about not eating meat kinda turns people off. Thats why I don't do it.
On the other hand, if people read the news and know whats going on with factory farming, Mad Cow disease, E Coli, growth hormones, antibiotics in meat ,etc. They can make an educated dicision on whether or not eating meat is safe or not . Its not for me to judge.
How many vegetarians go into the rest of food and drink and slag people off for eating meat ???
Err, did you count ? So did I ....ZERO
This VEGETARIAN and VEGAN forum is full of meat-eaters saying V&V shouldn't tell them what to do.
Its not such a leap of inteligence to see how hypocrytical that is, is it ?
We don't tell people they shouldn't eat meat. I've never come across a veggie who has told people not to eat meat and I met over 4,000 of them every year through our Veggie business.
Just how many do you meet ? Probably a very small number.
And i notice many of your supporting answerers quote the mythical "they" as if we are one common mass of people who think in the same way and stand protesting outside the butchers.
They also immediately jump into defending and saying eating meat is right....in the V&V forum. If thats not forcing thier views on veggies, then what is ??
Are you going to go into Megs question and tell her not to hassle veggies ? No, why not ? Surely you don't have double standards ??
I don't have a problem with people eating meat. It disgusts me but it's their choice and no one elses. However it is extremely offensive when they come into the vegetarian and vegan forum trying to justify eating meat. This forum is meant for those who are vegan or vegetarian or those interested in a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle not for people to come into the forum and bash another persons way of life. If they ask what's wrong with meat they should expect no less than a factual answer. I doubt anyone will sugar coat if for them.
WELL ITS NOT WRONG
I'm not a vegetarian. But I think THEY might be annoyed at OMNIVORES telling them how it's criminal, abnormal, weird.. and all sorts of other words that omnis make up to sum up veges just couse they don't eat meat!
If the veggies and vegans want to nenude the earth of plants
there wont be any animals around either. So there will be just
a desert.Lovely thought...of course we'd all die out as well.
well im getting tired of people killing animals for no good reason
Duno..............if your talking about eating human meat, then maybe your are a murderer?
No. MEAT IS MURDER!
* Obviously no Smiths fans.
