As many others have said, there's a vegan version of every food.
As far as reasons to become a vegan goes... For cows to constantly produce milk they have to be constantly having babies. The calves they give birth to are sold on the veal market. Not to mention dairy cows ARE eventually slaughtered. If you support the dairy industry you support the killing of animals.
Here are some videos you might want to check out if you haven't seen them already.

The bottom line is you need to decide how strong your convictions are. Would you rather give up cheese or support the torture and killing of innocent animals? It sounds a bit harsh but in reality it’s one or the other.
You can have soy cheese, and yolk-less eggs. There are a lot of vegan products available. Chocolate is a bean isnt it? I dunno, its not very good for you in many respects. You must look at why you want to become a vegan, and than it would be easier for you to lose those things from your diet. Its a big decision, but only one you can make. Try it and see if you like it, and otherwise return to the ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet you are on! Life is short - so grab on and enjoy yourself!
You shouldn't require strangers to convince you...and you know cheese, chocolate and pancakes would be out. Of course it's healthy for you, but it has to be your decision and your commitment. Good luck!
Discipline should always be respected and well sone for avoiding meat, but come on a vegan! I say you keep enjoying your lovely cheese otherwise you are gonna miss out on them cheesy lasanges and pizza's.
It's really either vegan or cheese. Fake is just awful. Avoid it at all costs. If you worry for the treatment of the animals, you could go to organic milk and eggs. Still from animals, but the animals are healthy and well taken care of.
why give it up? You can be a veggie & still eat things you enjoy.
why do you want to be vegan first?
vegans can have that plastic cheese that doesn't melt. you can have chocolate and pancakes. get an eggless mix at any health food store...
Lol, there is vegan chocolate, and it tastes the same as the average.
There are vegan pancakes from a box, and they taste identical to "normal" unhealthy pancakes.
There is a substitute for every non-vegan food out there.
But if you want to be vegan, just follow the vegan food pyramid

or else you'll get sick.
Also, vegan cheese melts if you get the melting kind.
It isn't that hard, its easy and super healthy!
You don't have to be vegan you can just stay vegetarian and eat the right cheeses or you can have soy, and i believe almond cheeses and then you can make chocolate chip pancakes with egg replacers and water and you can use vegan chocolates i believe you can either find or order online.
Being vegan is a choice that follows personal beliefs.
Why should anyone try to convince you, in fact, HOW could anyone convince you to believe something you don't?
You're fine eating dairy, so clearly veganism is not for you.
You don't have to give up chocolate or pancakes, you just look for (or make) vegan versions. Chocolate is from a plant and ALL real chocolate is vegan until candy makers add milk to it. There is plenty of delicious, high quality dark chocolate available with no milk added (and "milk" chocolate as well, made with soy or rice or almond milk.) You can make vegan pancakes from scratch - I bet if you google "vegan pancakes" you'll get some recipes.
Veganism can be very healthy. And it's good for the environment. If you went vegetarian to end animal suffering, veganism is sort of the logical extension. By cutting out eggs, you're not contributing to the suffering of chickens and by cutting out dairy, you're not contributing to the veal industry (cows have to have babies to produce milk and male babies will never grow up to be mothers, so it's off to the veal crates for the baby boys.) Read up on it. I recommend "Diet for a New America" and "The Food Revolution" by John Robbins, "Mad Cowboy" and "No More Bull" by Howard Lyman, and "Skinny B***h" (I don't have it handy so I can't tell you the authors' names.) If you really decide that it's something you want and you're ready, believe me, cheese will not be a problem. I put it off for years because I thought it would be too hard to give up cheese, but I've been at it for two full months now and haven't craved (or even wanted) cheese one time. The key is to dive in and try new things. I have tried dozens of new recipes in the last few months and my tastebuds are having so much fun that cheese isn't even a factor.
