How long does wine keep after you've opened it?!

Question: ... and how would you store an opened bottle?

Answers: ... and how would you store an opened bottle?

this entirely depends on how you store it. after opening, if there's any left, you should always recork it. The wine will have about 2 or 3 days of drinkability left. There are some options to prolong the life and preserve the taste however. Wine stores will sell "vacuum toppers" (runner stoppers that come with a small pump that sucks the oxygen out of the bottle and preventing oxidation). This will make the wine last up to 5 days. What i use, is inert gas. Nice wine stores sell bottles of this for less than $10 - it's a combination of CO2, Argon, and Nitrogen - harmless to the wine and the drinker - the gas is heavier than air and completely pushes the oxygen out. Your normally recork the bottle after spraying this mixture into the bottle and it can last up to 2 weeks!

Put it in the refrigerator and it can last along time. Some say the longer u keep it the better it tastes/

a long time in the refrigerator but gradually loses its strong taste

After a couple of days it will start to lose its taste. Sticking it in the fridge may keep it for up to a week. But if you're sensitive to its taste, you'll notice that it'll start to taste flat.

max 3 days. After that u might want to use it for cooking.

It also depends on the temperature ya.

I would normally finish the bottle once opened.

To store it you should used a vacumm **** I think you can get those in a wine shop. THen put it into the fridge.

serious coniseurs usually don't drink it after its been open for two to three days. Port wines or other fortified wines have much longer open life. Sometimes months.

If it is the dead stuff you buy from the shops it might even last a week or two if it's corked and in the fridge.
If it is genuine wine then it'll be "alive" and in a day or so it'll start spoiling, it depends on how much air is in the bottle.
