How many beers can a breastfeeding mother drink before it affects the milk?!

Question: The normal answer is none, however, after I had my baby, I craved beer so bad. So I would feed him first, and get all the milk out. Then I would drink just a little, maybe half a bottle, and I would drink that slowly. And to be on the safer side of things, I would drink a glass of water after the beer. I read in a book that a woman would have to practically chug a bottle of wine for her breast milk to become alcoholic, as to where the child can get drunk. Otherwise the flavor of the milk is off. But when it comes to newborn babies, its always to best to err on the side of caution.

Actually, Some doctors recommend one Guinness Stout a day for breastfeeding moms. Guinness is high in iron among other vitamins and can help restore what is lost during feeding. Report It

  • Any amount of alcohol in your blood can affect breast milk.

you cant drink any .. every thing you put in your body goes into your breast milk and can affect your baby .

None; alcohol crosses into the milk ducts with no problem at all.

It All affects the milk. Best not to drink while nursing.
