I've never drunk alcohol before and tomorrow is gonna be my first time, so can it harm my body?!
Answers: And i'm not a normal drinker, this is the first time. I'm 16, and it's in someone's house (so it's legal over here). I'm not gonna be drinking after it, so i'm just wondering what, if any, risks are involved.
As you have never had alcohol before, it will not take a lot to get drunk. Avoid spirits (whisky, rum, gin, vodka) and try sticking to one type of drink (light wine, spritzer (wine and soda), light beer or lager), but beware some lagers can be very strong. A glass of milk before you start would be a good idea, and try to have some non-alcoholic drinks during the evening. If food is on offer, eat it as this will slow down the absorption of alcohol.
Above all, HAVE A GOOD TIME!
I gather as this is your first time you will have one drink if even that. That does not hurt you. You are still growing and should not consume alcohol. Many don't like the taste of alcohol and there is nothing wrong not drinking it or not liking it. I say everything in moderation. Drinking alcohol does not make you an adult or makes you cool.
to much yes. who told you it was legal? its not. dont do it
just drink slow.. dont drink too much or u could get alcohol poisoning..lol CAREFUL!!! HAVE FUNNER
Happy Birthday!
Apart from the fact you may end up embarrasing yourself, the mainn issue with alcohol is 'binge' drinking . Most areas where alcohol is common, its integrated into the diet, a glass of wine with meals etc.
If you drink lots more alcohol than your tolerance, you may react especially badly; heres the science bit:
One drink too many can leave you feeling out of control – like slurring your words, losing your balance and vomiting.
Official guidelines recommend that men shouldn’t regularly drink more than 3-4 units a day and women shouldn’t regularly drink more than 2-3 units a day because of the harm this may cause. The guidelines also recommend that after an episode of heavy drinking, it’s advisable to refrain from drinking for 48 hours to allow the tissues to recover.
Psychological and physical dependence on alcohol can creep up on you. Tolerance gradually increases the more you drink excessively on a regular basis, so you may find you'll need more alcohol to reach the same state. In other words, you may seem to be getting better at holding your drink when that’s really a sign of a developing problem.
Alcohol can make you mouthy, argumentative and aggressive. There’s no way of knowing beforehand if you’re going to turn into a nasty drunk.
Serious overindulgence can lead to alcohol poisoning which could put you in a coma or even kill you.
Long-term excessive use of alcohol causes illnesses such as liver damage, stomach cancer and heart disease.
Apart from all that, enjoy yourself, billions of people drink regularly with minimal side-effects. Moderation is the main thing.
well, yeah. alcohol can cause damage. ranging from banging your head on the toilet when you slip in your own vomit, to alcohol poisoning, which can lead to death. just do it in moderation. and if you must drink, drink something you will remember all your life. Guiness!!
Just keep it under 12 ozs of a 40% drink and you should be fine. Any more then that and you will be throwing up every where. Also make sure you eat something before you drink, so that it isn't as hard on your body. And i can't tell you how lucky you are that its legal for you. Here In America the age is 21.
Just don't get pissy drunk! Alcohol can be bad for you if you drink too much. Know your limit. Your body will tell you when it's had enough just listen. I did the same when I was your age, just beware of your surroundings. Keep an eye on your cup at all times, if you got to pee take your cup with you. If you leave your cup for a minute... get another!!! Trust me. Don't drink and drive even if you had one drink! God bless you. Please be careful and responsible.
I don't think there is any thing wrong with you having some alcohol as long as you are with adults and you don't over do it. It should be safe just drink wisely stop when you think you've had enough.
and for Ace. It is legal to drink in your home even when you are under 21 in the US.
listen If you want to try alcohol try it you don't need a pep talk. And if you are going to drink make sure you are in a safe environment where no one will be leaving, driving or going out of the house. Other than that have fun n be safe.
