Can't return Liquor in California?!


Question: I brought some in a California grocery store and try to return it unopen and with a reciept.They told me its California law ,I can't return liquor,is this true?

BS. You can certainly return food items including liquor. I used to work at a grocery store and we did returns on food all the time. I never saw anyone try and return liquor though, but that law doesn't seem to have any logic.

Since it is considered a food product i don't think you can return it anywhere, not just Cali. Same with opened underwear and DVDs.. though I don't recommend eating the those. Save the liquor it doesn't go bad (in a reasonable about of time) and New Years is around the bend.

No food items (including drug related products) will be accepted back into our distribution centers. This is to prevent any potential issues with product tampering or a shortened spoilage dates. Our overall goal is the safety of our customers.
