I need some advice. My wife and I enjoy wine, we don't get to too many winerys here in MO?!

Question: We have a few favorites. We tend to drink more at the sweet end, but we are not afraid to be a little bold. We are looking for a few more be they local, national or international. The local wines we like, Mt Pleasants Harvest Red and White. Adam Putcha (sp) Adam Choice, and Vinloges, Sugar Creek Birds Leggs and Peach Hollow (in the summer) So let me know what else I should add to my list. Thanks in advance for the help and guidance

My wife and I have visited all the wineries in Hermann and Augusta. We have particularly enjoyed Sugar Creek (La Rustica, Signature Red, and Sunset), Balducci (Aria, Norton), and Augusta (Reserve Red, Chambourcin) in Augusta. In Hermann we enjoy Adam Puchta (Hunter's Red, Adam's Choice), Bommarito (ports), Robller (Norton, Vignoles), and Hermanoff (Vignoles).
As you can see, there is a bias towards red wines here. Our favorite wineries are Adam Puchta and Sugar Creek. We have never been disappointed with either one. And Augusta Winery is not far behind.
From our experience, wineries we would not visit again are: Bias, Oak Glenn, and Blumenhof.
Finally, while the larger wineries may make some decent wines, when given the choice we do not return to Mount Pleasant or Stone Hill. We find these wineries to lack intamacy and have too much of a corporate feel to them. We were also less than satisfied with our trip to Montelle.

There is an organization called Norton Says that will have a website up soon to promote Missouri wineries.

Ohh, maybe you can't go to winerys, but are there any wine shops that offer tastings...or a wine class that would include a number of tastings so you could expand your list of favorites?

I like Oregon wine, Erath's Pinot Noir, for one.

Have fun, I hope you get a whole list to try.

Born & raised in Oregon & now in Alaska. Oregon is well known for their wines. I like Henry Estates - Veraison the best.

I also prefer the sweeter wines. We gals put away quite a lot of this wine yesterday. The guys were all beer drinkers. Lucky for us!!!!!

There are a lot of shiraz and blends that come out of the Barossa Valley in Australia that are super fruity and sweet. They are also pretty cheap still.

Oregon wines are tasty, but Pinot Noir has become so overpriced that it is hard to find value there. No lack in quality or price. The Oregon people won't want to hear it, but I think Washington is the new wine king of the U.S.

Local wine shop tastings are a great idea. There are also lots of places on the internet that give good recommendation and ship, but I guess that depends on your state's wine shipping laws. Check out Wine Library.

Try the "REMSON" from La Cave' Vineyard in Billings MO.
