Does anyone know when Samuel Adams releases its stock of Utopia?!

Question: My husband saw a piece on television about their exclusive $100 a bottle beer and he really wants one. Every place I have tried is out and I understand they only release a limited quantity. I am hoping they release in January so I can get it for his birthday.

First off, Utopias will only be available in: Chicago, Denver-Boulder, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Boston metro area, New York, Hartford (Conn.), Rhode Island, Long Island, Burlington (Vt.), Springfield (Mass.), Monmouth-Ocean City (N.J.), Albany (N.Y.) metro area, New Haven (Conn.), Augusta-Waterville (Me.), Portland (Me.), Stamford-Norwalk (Conn.), Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Washington D.C., and Baltimore.

Anywhere else, you will have to special order it. For some reason, due to legal restrictions, Samuel Adams Utopias can not be sold in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, and West Virginia.

Samuel Adams Utopias has been brewed in two small limited batches to date. The first batch which was released in 2001 as Samuel Adams Utopias MMII topped out at 24% ABV, while the second batch which was released in 2003 as Samuel Adams Utopias pushed the alcohol to 25.6% ABV. Both batches were released only once and in limited quantities. In other words, they will never realease the same batch more than once.

Before Utopia, Sam Adams had another liquor based beer called Millenium, once Millenium sold out in stores, they began selling online for around 1,000 per bottle. So the safest thing to do now, is either pay a bit more for a bottle already released. If you are determined to pay only retail, just pay attention to samadams.com and keep an eye out for if/when they release another batch. Once you know the date, then you need to go to a specialty liquor store and reserve a bottle.

Hope that helps some :) I'm sure your husband will love it and appreciate all the effort you went through to locate it for him.
