After opening a bottle of red wine, how long can it be left for before it becomes undrinkable?!

Question: Depends on the quality of the wine, but I would say max 3 days, watch the colour of the wine, if the colour changes to a more brown colour it will taste terrible and wont do you any good, try putting what is left in a smaller glass container and fit a tight stopper as soon as you have decided you have had enough for one day.
White wine should be finished once the bottle is opened as it will turn to vinegar more quickly.
Hope this helps

20 mins.

12 hours - after that, it tastes of vinegar

never had one that long

3 days or so

It's usually OK for a couple of days. If you put it in the refrigerator it doesn't oxidize as quickly. Also, if you put it into a smaller container - like a half bottle - it will also slow down the oxidizing.

a few days at most! take a sniff before you drink and store flat/lying down to keep the cork moist, red wine is best at room temp

Cork it, and as another poster indicated put it into a smaller bottle (keep an empty half bottle on hand so you can do this when needed).
Even if you keep it in it's original bottle (corked), it should taste ok after 1-2 days. In the half bottle, you should be ok for 3-4 days

Well to be honest, I drink my Reds slightly chilled. I opened a bottle of Rombauer Merlot on thanksgiving, didnt drink it all, caped it, and put it back in my chiller @ 53 degrees. I just went and tasted it and I think it's fine. I guess it depends on if you keep it on the counter, in the fridge, if you gas it before you close it, theres a lot that can go into that factor. but upright on the counter I would say two days, normal room temp

Never had one that lasted that long unless it was my second or third bottle, LOL!

About a couple of days if it's covered. I tend to put it in the fridge though, in case it goes off. I can't bear to waste anything.

about a day at room temperature, never has a chance in my house !!!

1 to 2 days but refrigeration can extend it 6 to 16x depending on the wine. Flavor and aroma begin to degrade in as little as 6 hours at room temp.

Better finish it in one sitting. Otherwise cork the bottle well, keep in refrigerator and consume it within 24 hours. It won't be undrinkable but you won't get the real pleasure it is supposed to give.

I do not know,i would drink it ,once aired nothing spared.also subject, the kiddy, a young person with more sense, wisdom and pzazz than most adults, you are-The kiddy.xxxxx .

Wouldn't know there is never any left in the bottle.

24 hours as a rule, Try corking it and return ing it to the fridge, then remove it about an hour before you wish to drink it.

if it has a cork it will be ok...but otherwise it will turn to vinegar by the process of oxidation

isn't left a four letter word
