What beers pair well with spicy foods?!

Question: Most good beers seem to get overwhelmed by spicy foods and lose any depth. Anyone have good ideas, or do I just stick with the un-complex Coronas, Tecates, Pacificas etc.?

Spicy foods pair well with pale ales (Bass, Sierra Nevada)
are two good choices. These beers have a nice hoppy bite and good body that won't get overwhelmed.

For Mexican try Negra Modelo, a Vienna-style lager whose slight sweetness will help balance some of the spiciness. Hoppy pilsners also compliment spicy foods as well.

I am aformer chef and like to have a darker one some what sweeter, either Belguim, Germany or Guinness stout. Even a fruit based beer is nice to cut through the burn and compliment the heat.

I usually drink Indian beer when at an Indian place and for Mexican a Dos Equis dark is a good choice, if your able to get micro-brewed beers at the places you eat they to tend to have a slightly headier and sweetish taste or finish.

The Miller High Life goes well with anything.Trust me! LOL

Try a beer eat that is not too "hopsy". Typically a beer flavored carbonated water like Corona will do the job. Coors or Olympia are also good choices. Guiness is for bland food!

San Miguel pale pilsen.

an ice cold fat tire! it goes great with hot chilli. mmm now im hungry.

Try some of the beers from India

I'll offer another vote for negra modelo for mexican and pretty lite, simple beers otherwise. The main thing for me is less complexity in beer flavor with spicy foods. I save complex beers (belgians, and american micros) for less intensively flavored foods because I want to really taste the beer. That said, other options might be a nut brown ale or another type of brown ale would offer a little sweetness but still not a whole lot going on.

I like a good pale ale with spicy foods. It's full-flavored and a little hoppy but not too heavy and compliments well. Sierra Nevada and Red Hook IPA are good choices.
