I've got three recommendations:

1. White zinfandel. Wine snobs will slay me for that recommendation, but you like sweet wine, so this is a great starting point. Pink in color, white zinfandel is targeted to be a summer wine, like a wine cooler in a bottle. Good brands include: Sutter Home (the standard bearer who popularized the varietal in the late 1970s. Their current vintage won the bronze medal at the California State Fair) and Beringer.

2. Gerwurtztraminer (pronounced Guh-vuhrts-TRAM-een-er). Next up in complexity is this spicy varietal. Straw blonde in color. Some are almost bone dry, so you need to be careful about your selection. Try Fetzer Gewurtztraminer, "Tastefully aromatic, the flowery, slightly spicy, medium sweet Fetzer Gewurztraminer is a delicious sipping wine; great all by itself" [source: Beverages & More].

3. German Riesling - Auslese or Spatlese. Wow. The best offerings here are "heaven in a glass." These are harder to find and more subtle than the Gewurtztraminer. My favorite brands are Dr. J. J. Prum and Dr. Loosen. These are floral and sweet without being cloying.

Finally I have a great recommendation for a dessert wine after you've tried these. You've GOT to try Sauterne sometime. This is like perfume that you drink. You can spend $350 on a bottle of Chateau d'Yquim (and if you do -- can I come over?), but great versions are available for about $60. Really -- at some point -- try this.

4. My own cellar :)

Look up a wine shop called Best Cellars. They have good, sweet wines.

With what you're asking for, I would go with the Berringer white zin. Or the Chateau St. Michelle Reisling. Should be able to find those at most gas stations

If you want sweet wine, I would recommend trying dessert wines like Chianti or Port or Sherry. My favorite port is Fonseca Bin 27 (the bottle should be about $13). These wines can be found at Beverages and more as well as your local grocery store.

for a sweet wine thats always cheap, you can try a white zinfandel. i think theyre pretty gross though....if you want to try a good red, i suggest a malbec. its my favorite red and ive gotten bottles of it for less than 5 dollars.

I like white Zinfandel, although most of it is pink, when I'm in the mood for a sweet wine. Cakebread makes a nice Chardonnay that is about $20 a bottle.

check out this great blog - it reccomends various wines of assorted prices

personally for a sweet wine - try a black cat reisling (you will find it in the german wine section of your local liquer store)
