Can I filter home brew and still bottle condition?!

Question: Thinking about making beer. Been doing wines for a while now and I use a minijet filter before bottling.
Will the coarse filter pads strip the yeast out of the beer and render bottle conditioning impossible?

If you are making beer, the addition of "Irish Moss" at the rate of 2 tsp per 5 gallon batch 5 min. before the end of the boil will aid in giving you a "clear" beer. After the boil is complete
you need to chill the wort as quickly as possible to fermentaion temperature. These 2 techniques will give you a
clear beer.

I think you need some yeast in the bottles for effective secondary fermentation. We have an attachment that strains out coarse yeast sediment, but I don't know how a filter would go.

My friend used to make beer at home, and believe it or not..his first few batches was strained through his wifes nylons....sickkkk!

I use the minijet for wine making. I have used the coarse filter on ciders and sparkling wines and still get the fermentation in the bottle with a little priming charge.
The trick is to filter early, before fermentation is completely over, so you still have active yeast in there, or add yeast after filtering.

Here is what you need to know.

The pads will not completely strip the yeast but will slow down the bottle conditioning process. You can also add fresh yeast after filtering to insure good bottle conditioning. This is done at many breweries that bottle condition.A stickier yeast(Pasteur champagne works good)will make the sediment stick to the bottle better to insure a clearer glass of beer.
