Best type & brand of wine with poultry (Cornish Hens)? Not too expensive please, poor college students here.?!

Question: This is a very tough question really. It depends on if your dish is going to be citrusy, sweet, sour, savory etc. Usually a dry white works best. like a Chardonnay. Something like Toasted Head is available and cheap around campuses all over. Since you are a college student, I am sure you have your pal bartender around town no? Go ask them to slide you a cup of wine into a to go cup and use that. if you want to drink it with dinner also go with a liter since it will be cheaper and there is more.

Try to accentuating ingredients with the dish. things like lemons, capers, rosemary, tarragon, butter etc. Simply and cheap things really. It will be fantastic. Just remember to cook out the alcohol so it isn't too "winey".

Pinot Griggio (sp) there are alot of brands and its relatively cheap , but it is somewhat dry if your a collage student you probably like sweeter wine , ask the person behind the counter at your local liquor store they are usually pretty good to pointing you in the right direction.

I am not a wine expert but I found this one decent and, surprisingly enough, so did my Dad the expert.

Junot. Nice table wine from France. Some places only carry the white. There is a red though.

In N. Virginia we used to get the 1.5 liter bottle for about $6.
Here in GA we're paying close to $10.

For poultry, I would go with a Cabernet or Shiraz. There are two that are my favorites. First is Barefoot, either the Cabernet or Shiraz and the second is Little Penguin, Shiraz. Both are relatively cheap and are good to have anytime. Try one or both. Hope you enjoy.
