Answers: i'm just curious about the signs and stuff.

You have blackouts where things are done, but not remembered.

You drink by yourself to get drunk.

When you start going to 'meetings' - 'Till then.....you're
just a "Drunk" !!!

I average a case of beer a day, I consider myself a drunk, The signs of being an alcoholic is going to meeting's....

1) You drink on a daily basis and tell yourself you can quit anytime.

2) Black-outs.....you have absolutely no recolection of what you did after drinking

3) You simply can't walk away from a drink, basically you can't say NO!

4) After confronted, you start to hide your drinking....hiding bottles in various places.

There arew as many definitions as assholes, I suspect.
Here is what's a little more important; you need to seek help with your alcohol consumption when...drinking causes you to miss work, drinking becomes more important than just about anything else, drinking causes you to loose touch with friends and/or family, drinking causes you to have health problems and your doctor tells you to stop drinking, drinking causes you financial problems like loosing your driver's liscense or car or house.

when you can't stop completely on your own, regardless of how much or how often you drink. i didn't do any of the things the other answerers mentioned, i had a couple of drinks every few weeks, yet i am an alcoholic.
