Do you have to be 18 or 21 to bartend?!

Question:

Do you have to be 18 or 21 to bartend?

Answers:
The age varies by state, but it can be anywhere from 17 (Maine) to 21 (multiple states). Most states require that you be only 18 to serve alcohol (generally as a waitperson) but again that number varies from 17-21. I suggest you take a look at the maps on the pages that I've provided links to to get the appropriate age for your state. Cheers!

21

21 but you should be 25

i'm pretty sure its 21. the laws might vary by state, but usually you're not legally allowed to serve alcohol unless you're 21

I do believe you only have to be 18 to serve drinks.

I know in FL you can be 18 to serve alcohol.

Depends on where you want to bartend, what country ?state? In Canada depending on the province you can be has young as 18,what ever your legal drinking age is where your at is usually the age you must be to pour liquer but not nessary to serve it

it depends cuz every state has a diffrent age requirement

21

They said you would have to be 21 years.

Technically, it depends on state law.

But practically, I believe the federal government coerced all states to set the drinking age to 21, and one is not permitted to dispense alcohol if one is not able to consume it legally.

Some states, I think, permit people 18 and over to handle alcoholic beverages for purposes of stocking or serving--so that a 20 year old waitress can bring your gin rickey to your table--but the bartender has to be 21 to mix it.

21 and in some state,s you must attend bar-tendering school cheque you state liquor board

21 to bartend, 18 to serve liquor prepared by the bartender

It absolutely depends. In PA I could be a Bartender all the way alone in a bar at the age of 18. In Denver I could bartend at a restaurant or bowling alley but not a straight bar. Other states 21 for serving any drinks. You'll have to check by the state where you want to work.

21 ..you have to legally be able to drink it..to handle it and serve it to the public

it depends where you live, but you can be 18 to bartend. its actually cheaper it get your license if you're under 21

in CA you have to be 18 to serve, but 21 to pour
