Liquor and Hot Chocolate?!
Answers: Would anyone know what a good liquor would be to go in hot chocolate or cocoa? I was thinking maybe rum, whiskey, or just baileys.. Has anyone ever tried this before, if so whats best? Any thoughts?
I've tried Kahlua, Baileys, Godiva Liquor, Malibu, Caramel Liquor, Frangelico, Maraschino Cherry Liquor and Peppermint Schnapps. (Not all together, of course!) All are good. My faves would have to be Frangelico and/or Peppermint Schnapps. Maraschino Cherry is great, though, around Valentines Day.
Whiskey all of the way; go for it.

I assume Bailey's would be ok but I can't confirm it because I personally hate sweet drinks.
I would suggest Whiskey because the thought of mixing two kinds of sweet drinks together makes me queesy.

I just had the best hot chocolate, and I've taught myself the recipe.
It's coconut milk hot chocolate. I used real dark chocolate squares, half and half, a can of coconut milk and a little sugar, boil and serve. It is awesome. Go light on the sugar, the coconut milk is sweetened already.
Next I'm going to try it with Malibu Rum, it has a coconut flavor to it. I plan to make the hot chocolate with less sugar and then add the rum.
I cook to taste, so sorry don't have any measurements.

With chocolate i love an orange based liquer Cointreau or Grand Marnier or if you like nuts try Amaretto as it's almond based

Why waste good alcohol by mixiong it with hot chocolate?
However there is a good recipe for coffee that I am sure would work just as well with chocolate.
1/3 Baileys Irish Cream
1/3 Brandy
1/3 Hot Chocolate - a dark one would work best otherwise it would be too sweet.
whiskey, creme de menthe, bailies are all good in hot chocolate. Vanilla vodka would also be good. Or Cherry whiskey just depends on what you like.
