How to make a mint julip?!

Question:

How to make a mint julip?

Answers:
Its quite a bit of work-- I prefer Mojitos myself. MUCH easier!:)

Ingredients:
+ Fresh mint, enough to yield about 2 cups after removing leaves and chopping, plus enough extra sprigs to put in each drink

+ 2 cups sugar

+ 2 cups water

+ Crushed ice

+ Bourbon

- Remove the leaves from the mint and chop them; you do not need to finely chop, just enough to break the leaves into pieces
- Boil the mint, water, and sugar; stir until the sugar dissolves (about 5-10 minutes)
- Strain the mixture to remove the mint leaves
- Put the mixture in the fridge overnight
- Fill a glass with crushed ice
- Add the mint-sugar syrup and bourbon, using about 2-3 parts bourbon to 1 part syrup, depending on your needs
- Garnish with a mint sprig and serve

Mint juleps are simple.

Muddle some mint leaves in the bottom of your glass.
Add one shot of bourbon, an equal measure of simple syrup, and shake with ice cubes. Top off with club soda.

A mint julep is pretty much a mojito, except with bourbon instead of rum.

Ah, my favorite Southern sipping tradition. Here's a quick-and-easy way to fix one - perfect for those Saturday afternoons.

Peter's Mint Julep
(Serves 1)

2 oz Kentucky whiskey (I prefer Jim Beam, but use whichever you prefer)
4-6 fresh mint leaves
1 tsp. granulated sugar
Water
Powdered sugar (optional)

In either a traditional silver cup or a highball glass, muddle mint and sugar together. Add whiskey and as much water as you prefer. Serve immediately with a sprig of mint as decoration if desired.

If you really like it sweet, put a pinch of powdered sugar either on top of the drink or on the rim of the glass.

This drink is best enjoyed with a chaser of ice water.

If you grow fresh mint in the garden, this drink cannot be beat!

To freshen up your drink, simply add more bourbon and water to the muddled mint. Just make sure the drink doesn't "freshen" you so much that you have to be put to bed!
