Has anybody tried The Mr Beer kit they have at CVS pharmacy for $29 ?!

Question: It had the bottles, labels, the brew yeast, a barrell, and I am thinking about getting one.

Mr. Beer is a poor excuse for a homebrew kit... you would be a lot better off (and a lot happier with the finished product) if you got a 'homebrew starter kit' from any homebrew shop. Check out http://www.midwestsupplies.com or http://www.austinhomebrew.com or a local homebrew shop if you have one.

That is a good price if it is the one that comes with bottles. I tried it the beer was OK, kind of flat. I refermented it in the bottles so it had one heck of a kick to it.

No I haven't. Question back to you.. What is the sign by your question is that the boy scout sign? Thank you

I saw this too and was curious about it. I was concerned that it was all plastic because I think there would be a lot of potential for an exploding mess of yeast. *yuk* I'm also guessing it's a lower quality of mix but I agree it would be interesting if someone has tried it. In the meantime, I'll keep sipping my Shiner Bock. :-)

Mr Beer is a start to get into making your own beer, but there are better ways. Check out www.northernbrewer.com, www.morebeer.com, www.beertribe.com, www.brewcrazy.com

You can also do a google search on homebrewing to find a local homebrew supply shop near you or visit www.beertown.org.
