How well do you know your beer?!

Question:

How well do you know your beer?

Just like Guiness has that little ball of gas in the can that releases when the can is opened, there is another beer that has the same type of release but the little ball is attached to the bottom of the can. It is not free to float to the top. Anyone know what type beer it is. I checked Murphy's and Bass and they are not it. Any help would be great!

Answers:
KEO... but it's an amber rather than a dark beer like guiness, really yummy though and in a large yellow can...

Beamish, I think

I actually haven't noticed that in anything but Guinness. I'm a big fan of small NorCal breweries - Moylans out of Novato is my favorite. Their Double IPA (smells like blueberries, tastes like BEER) and Kiltlifter (man oh man, that makes for an interesting night) are the best.

I know Boddingtons has a ball in it similar to guiness. But it does float to the top when opened because of physics. If it were to stay at the bottom than the ball had to be weighted down with some sort of solid or had to be heavier. Boddingtons is the only beer that comes to mind right now.

The "little ball" contains Nitrogen. Its used to maintain the thick head on beers like Guiness. I've never heard of anyone other than Guiness using it. Anheuser Busch came out with a Guiness-like stout called Bare Knuckle Stout. Perhaps they're using Nitrogen too.

The ball is called a widgett, and it contains nitrogen. It is what makes the beer have that smooth mouthfeel. There are quite a few beers that have nitro widgetts in them.
