Question:

Your first day of bartending what did you do as soon as you arrived?

What did you do?

Answers:
Asked the bar manager where they wanted me to start and what I should do...

Clocked in

Make sure your beer cooler is stocked and prepare your garnishes.

Signed in and then stood in the corner like a fool until someone was free to give me my till/cash register card etc.

took a shot
you will need it

learned how to free pour w/water for accuracy

served beer on the customers...

Got hit on.

Started drinking double Makers Mark and coke.

clocked in as gm

Just cracked on with it smiled and was polite even to the drunk cheeky punters good luck and enjoy :)

You should look around - find out where everything is. Find out what is in each of the coolers - and where to go if your out of things - lemon/lime wedges - napkins - straws - the basic stuff. Don't worry about opening / closing details right away - they will be shown to you later. Ask about running the till - see if there's anything you need to learn, there.
Also, depending on if this is your first day bartending, ever - you might want to learn the ingredients of some basic drinks - (unless this is just your first day, at this particular establishment).
Oh - also, ask about the prices - try to learn them right away. Bar pour prices vs. top shelf, etc.
If everyone else is busy at the time - maybe ask what you can do - like help stock coolers, if needed - cut fruit, or whatever needs to be done.

Man this was like 10 11 years ago i took a shot and just started serving I remember its was me and some other bartender at the same bar and since i dint know all the mix drinks only the ones i drink, so i was serving mostly beer but kept on getting on the other bartenders way lol it was great so much has passed by remembering uuuuuuuuu dam it was great see I started as a porter that means i used to pick up glasses, then I was a shot man that is a sexy man passing around selling shooters/shots with a small vest and a bowtie lol, then is when I became a bartender so by the time I was bartending i knew most of the drinks, became an assistant manager then a GM know I'm partner at that same club its good thanks for making me remember lol

cleaned then waited on customers
