How long can you keep red wine once opened?!

Question:

How long can you keep red wine once opened?

Answers:
I googled this a while ago and I found out that you can drink it for up to five days after it's been opened. It can even make the flavour better would you believe? I take it that you put a stopper in it though, otherwise I wouldn't risk it! Bottoms up!

I am pretty sure it is a week? I wouldnt go too much after that!

only a few days but invest in a vaccuum pump. It only cost a few dollars and well worth it if you don't drink a bottle quickly.

It will start to deteriorate after about three days, unless you put it in the fridge, in which case it will last about as long as white wine. (2 weeks). Just pull a little out each day to warm it.

It doesn't last very long at all if I'm around.

Cheap red wine is pasturized and has plenty of preservative. Keep in a cool place and it lasts for a long time...however, it doesn't stay around very long at my place, house rules. Drink up. Salud.

Sorry, don't understand the question. I drink it!

it reacts with oxygen once open and goes off within days. it may well be drinkable after this but not good.

you can get inert gas pumps to replace the oxygen in the bottle, then seal it and it will last much longer.

or just drink it...

as long as you like, it will still be ok to drink

About as long as it takes me to drink three glasses (six to a bottle)-maybe forty mins.

About 25 minutes on average.

One of the cooking show guys did a short piece on this subject. The recommendation was to vaccum pump it (obviously with a stopper) and put it in the freezer. Take it out a day before you want to drink it and let in chill in the fridge. The claim was that it would last up to a week. I believe this was on Emeril, but I can't be sure.
