Answers: it is rather rare (never seen perhaps) anyone drinking beer/wine out of glasses/bottles/cans with a straw. why is that?

Drinking wine or beer (especially cheap stuff) through a straw is usually what homeless people and/or alcoholics do in public, usually with a brown bag to cover it up. Many view drinking wine or beer through a straw as tacky and something only alcoholics do.

Many people drink wine and beer to enjoy the flavor and savor the experience, not to get drunk quickly. Of course, they will likely loosen up or possibly get a bit tipsy, but that's different from being completely wasted.

Depending on the type of wine, wine connoisseurs use different types of glasses, sometimes allow the wine to breathe, sometimes chill it and sometimes serve it at room temp, etc. Why? For the best flavorful experience and to best enjoy it. Different wines are best in certain contexts. It's wine, and good wine is often expensive. It shouldn't be squandered or chugged.

Beer isn't as "high brow" as wine, but I've still known many people who are picky about how they drink beer (beer connoisseurs?). They typically prefer it poured into a glass with minimal foam from the carbonation. This helps keeps the beer carbonated and flavorful, and many believe it tastes better this way than straight from a can or bottle.

I don't think truly enjoying wine or beer lends itself to drinking it through a straw. Wine in particular should be sipped.

You could drink either with a straw and get drunk faster, but if you really just want to get drunk fast, you might as well be doing shots or having mixed drinks. And you can have a lot of fun with that and do just about whatever you please (as long as you promise not to drive or do anything to my house).

When I was young I always drank beer out of a can with a straw. We heard it gets you drunker faster and we used to have the can wrapped in a brown bag, derelict style.

you just drink more faster through a straw.

We men normally swig down beers or wine, not using a straw.

We use glass that can be bottomed out quickly.

Straws are only for sissies, honey pie. Burp!

Never

It's usually done by those who don't want anyone to know they're drinking (the can is usually in a bag). It doesn't fool anyone and looks cheap and tacky.

People drink beer through a straw because it gets you drunk quicker because you get less oxygen with every sip

Drinking with straws tends to be associated more with younger people as it increases the effects of alcohol as this transports it to the blood quicker. They generally drink alcopops instead of beer, wine etc. And no I've never seen it.

idk, ive only seen girls do that no self respecting man could ever pull that stunt

when drinking from a straw it gets u a lot more drunk because theres no air going to u trust me it works

Drinking from a straw makes a person drunk faster because less oxygen is incorporated with every sip. Generally it isn't done with beer because it concentrated the gases in your gut and makes you burpy and unattractive for the rest of the evening. Wine is considered a 'classy' drink and drinking from a straw is not very classy. Also, when drinking wine, many people want to smell the wine and talk about its "bouquet." If you are drinking from a straw you are less likely to smell the wine.
