Beer Grain & Dogs?!

Question:

Beer Grain & Dogs?

Is there any harm in giving a dog the left over beer grain mash?
It's drained of all the alcohol-producing sugars through the brewing process. My dog LOVES this mash - so long as it's not still hot! lol

If it matters, it's an all-grain oktoberfest beer. I'm not sure what grains are in it, but Hubby has it memorized.

Anyone have any recipies for kids OR dogs for this left over mash? I've heard of people making dog treats and cookies out of it... Have you tried to reuse the mash?

Thanks for your help!

Answers:
Well, the grains immediately after mashing, when cooled, have about zero alcohol--it takes pitching the yeast and waiting several days.

And I'm pretty sure that mash leavings from commercial breweries are used as animal feed.

Nice puppy! Eat 'em up!

BTW, I used to put 'em on the garden. Great aeration and organic mulch!

Remember the friendship cakes and breads that brew a starter they freez and reuse the mash in the cake or bread.
I question the alcohol content of the mash ,,because you cannot squeez all the liquid out.

There's no alcohol in spent grain. And dog biscuits are made from grain.
